Shifting problem and noise on auto after tune

Hi guys.

be easy on me its my first post and I'm from the UK lol!!

Got a 05 Auto GT with 25k on the clock, today I thought Id use the tuner I got with the car as I've just installed the BBK cold air intake system.

Tuner is a Superchips Model 1755 MAX Micro tuner (for 05 V6 V8 model only)

Did the install as instructed, went for a drive, instantly it was quicker as I left two black lines from simply pulling away as I normally drive and never done that before !! GREAT I thought, however upon coming down the slip ramp at full throttle it redlined to the point of engine cut, I instantly backed off and it shifted up, shifts fine if NOT full throttle (this happened at around 80mph on its last shift up Id guess)

2nd problem is I can now hear a clunk as it down shifts when coing to a stop, mainly the last two down shifts, feels to be coming from the bell housing area

If its of any use I checked my gear ratio sticker and it says 3.31 which I guess is stock

My only other mods are full body kit, lowered by Eibach springs, 20x8.5 fronts and 20x10 rear wheels

Any help or advice greatly appriciated

welcome to the forums.

my advice would be to lose the superchips tuner and go and buy a good tuner.
SCT and Sniper are two of the better ones.

Thanks for the welcome..

lol!! I thought that would be the advise and fair advice at that, because it is the cause as its okay without it although so much slower.

Just wish they were available here, its a case of finding a company in the US that will ship here

Be cool if you could find someone!! I don't mind calling them if I have too or order online whatever...

So this maybe the REAL reason the guy I brought the mustang from did not have it installed, he said he did not like the firm gearshift it gave, mind you this is a guy that put the body kit on with a few self tapping screws and double sided sticky tape (I am serious) since been removed aligned and fitted correctly

I think I've saved this car from a moron!!

First off...

do ever plan on getting a dyno tune?

i mean "canned" tunes are good and all but If you plan on real performance down the road your going to need a dyno tune.
and it doesn't matter what tuner you have at that point.
I would look around your local speed shops to see what kind of tuning software that they use and go with that.

I don' think I will as there is no real companies that deal with Mustang tuning, the mustang has never and will never be released here in the UK so they are pretty rare.
The most I'm doing performance wise is BBK throttle body, Borla cat back along with the BBK cold air intake I have on now.

So is the 3.31 the standard back end on the 2005 just wondering if thats the cause or is the tuner I have just a piece of crap??

I'm gunna take the tune off in the morning and try the 87 octane tune see if that makes a difference?

Our fuel is higher octane than yours, our standard fuel is 95 then we have super which is 97 octane

get rid of the superchips tuner, get an SCT tuner and get rid of that BBK intake.

for the tuner and tunes, Get and SCT as for the intake, whatever. I don't reccomend getting a new throttle body though, I've heard enough nightmares about swapping t-bodies and cars pumping out awesome rwhp on the stock throttle bodies. So long story short, I recommend not getting the throttle body

I would suggest a Steeda CAI, with the elbow, a predator or SCT Xcal tuner from bama|chips, or Brenspeed. See if your problems get any better.
Do you have a ford dealership there with trained technicians capable of working on the mustang?
Then just ditch the TB, get gears, CMCV's, Longtubes, and some sticky tires, and youre all set!

Thanks for the advise guys, as I said I'm totally new to the mustang, last vehicle was a 2000 F350 Super duty Lariat 4x4 6.8 V10 Supercharged Dually at 500bhp so totally different.

So BBK Throttle body cancelled!!! BBK cold air to late, its already on and cost $400.00 dollars in total to supply and get here to the UK

so just looking for a tuner supplier, I'll e-bay this Superchips junk

As for tyres I've got Falkens 255x35x20 on the front and 285x30x20 on the rear

So anybody know how a tuner can cause the original problems, The clunk on down shift and redline engine cut if full throttle is applied. I can understand the shift issue I guess as its ECU controlled but the clunk I would have thought is mechanical??

slightly worrying that Superchips seem to have withdrawn the tuner I have (1755 model number)
it looks like the one at this link http://www.superchips.com/products.p...+for+Ford+Cars

ebay the BBK intake, your not going to get the best overall power out of your car with that intake.
