best s197 exhaust


yo guys...i have a 07 stang gt...i really want to do the exhaust on my car...i wanted you guys to tell me what are the best exhaust set ups to get on my everyday driver/drag track car...i want great horsepower gains with a good sound...so let me know

actually im not sure...i will put some high flow cats as long as it doesnt kill performance...if havin no cats is a huuuge difference...i might go no cats

should i even bother...i mean the car comes with a 2 1/2 inch exhaust...would it be possible to just pop long tubes on there and a axle back and be good????please respond

LT and midpipe are worth it. The stock axle back is actually pretty good though and changing it is just for the sound.

You will have to get a new mid pipe if you run LTs because they stock h pipe is too long to work with LTs. And I would replace the stock mufflers because aftermarkets look and sound better, but there will be little to no performance gain.

pypes axle back off road x .. with out cats ... sound stock at idle but in higher rpm it get good and loud ... check

do a search on youtube for mustang exhaust and see what you like. I love my steeda axleback(basically the same as stingers), but theres a huge difference in sounds available out there.

i love my slp loudmouths and frpp x-pipe. nice and loud out back, but quiet inside. it was pretty loud inside with just the slp's. just a little raspy with the x

btw before i get any comments on the h-pipe and L/Ts i am cutting the pypes h-pipe and welding it to the L/Ts bcuz the pypes h-pipe is the cheapest one @ $175 so yah but the corsa axle-back is soo sick sounding

I've read at least 3 articles that say that the stock exhaust flows extremely well. Sure you could get another 10hp from something aftermarket, but for the same amount of clams you could do a whole lot better with something like an electric water pump or underdrive pulley. Or even put it toward the suspension to make use of the power that's already there. In fact, the suspension advice was received by a friend who goes to a lot of road race gatherings. He said that the mustangs he sees have more issues with inadequate control than with inadequate power.
