Paint them. It looks sick with them so you know you will want them forever, but I would gues around $1000-$1700.

I got quoted $4500...to re-clear everything they have to pull all the moldings, glass, etc...so I went with vynil...if it gets screwed up, I can replace it one peice at a time for chep, or pull them off if I get tired of them...

What Red? Too much? They could have just taped everything and sparayed it, but it would have looked like shit, and the edges would chip. Still would have been over $2500...

That sounds like WAY too much. I would think between 1-2k. The don't have to pull everything off. Just tape this shit out of it. It's 2 stripes and 1-2 coats of clear. Thats not $4500. Call a couple other place to get estimates.

Yeah, we've got 6 good body shops in town...like I said for them to do it right and pull the moldings, etc, that's how much it is...have you gotten quotes from body shops in your area for custom striping? Doesn't matter how you tape, you will always get overspary, and the edge where the clear stops, it comes off.

Well my buddy owns a body shop so all I have to do is pay for materials

They don't have to clear the whole car.

No but I got the side stripes too...so the hood, the roof, the trunk, the spoiler, front and rear bumpers, both doors, both front fenders, the hood scoop, both rear quarters all had to be re-cleared for stripes, so every peice of glass had to come out...the only things that could have been left alone are the side skirts...

And not everybody's friend owns a body shop...so why quote people what you would pay for materials only, when everybody else has to pay for labor? Doesn't sound like Cams will have too much trouble coming up with the money, but he should have a realisitc estimate...OKC's gonna be at or a little more expensive than what I was quoted...and why half-ass a paint job on an over-priced collector's car?

it cost me $250 to get the center of my hood, my spoiler, and the section between the tail lights painted. I went with black and had them do 3 coats of flat drying clear. made it more of a satin black rather than flat.

If you just do over the top stripes, it's not bad. I had my wifes done for $800. Thats bumpers, hood, roof, deck lid and rear fascia. If you paint the side stripes, they have to shoot the whole car. I was quoted $4k+ for mine but I haven't decided what I want. I want some thing special but very subtle, done in the stripes.

As far as hurting your cars value...What do plan to do with it, drive it and enjoy it or save it for 20-30 years and retire off the sales price? Special edition cars like Shelbys tend hold their $$ value best when they are left stock. Look at any old Shelby, SS, Hemi car, etc...The real value is what makes you happy with the car
