Just ordered new goodies!!!

I just ordered 4.10 gears, a Pypes o/r H-pipe, and Pypes Violaters!!!!

Can't wait to get it all in.

i plan on installing all of it myself, anyone have anyidea as to "How do I change the gears?" my dad is a pro on things like that so I'm not worried, but are there any S197 specific things to know when installing them?

Nope if your dad knows his shit, go right ahead, but if he is just a shade tree mechanic then take it to a shop to have it done.

just had 4.10's installed in my car. there is more to it than r&r. and u have to get a custom tune done for the gears. mandatory. usually the dyno doc who does the tune can either install the gears or he will know where it can be done. my brother is ASC certified mechanic and he strongly suggested that this is the way to do it. 4.10's, installation and custom tune w/tuner ran about $1300.00 but what a difference!!! do it right and let the pros do it for you.

You don't need a new custom tune. If you have a tuner you can adjust the speedo calibration for the 4.10s. You can do the same thing for bigger tires. And I think you ment ASE :wink

I got a Xcal3 and doug at bama's gonna hit me up w/ tunes, I'm just worried about installation

since he is getting an o/r h pipe, i'm sure he was planning on getting a new tune anyway. He's got a bama tune, wont doug send him another one for free?

i would absolutely pay someone to do the gears. that way if there is gear noise (which there shouldn't be) you can make them do it over. ask around in your area to find a good place other people have had it done. a good price will be from $200-350 for the install. I wouldn't pay the $350 though.

My mistake it is ASE certified mechanic. Thanks. I must have missed where he had a tune done already or had a canned tune but now i see it after i made my post. I just had my custom tune done when i had my gears installed so that was what i meant. My livewire does have a rear axle gear option as part of the tune so i imagine if you change to 4.10 the computer needs to be tuned as well. I gotta tell you the car is a blast to drive with the 4.10's and i have to agree, dont fear the gear!
