Factory Alarm & Remote Start
Just wondering how well the factory alarm is on our cars. Is it possible to put remote start on cars with manual transmissions

yes it is possible, i asked the guy at my local stero shop and he said u can do it, but you will have to give up your spare key. they have to put into a box that tricks the computer into thinking that the key is in the ingtion, since the keys are chiped.

I've heard that remote starts are against the law, because they are dangerous.

Nah, And how do you put a remote start on a manual, if the clutch has to be pushed in for it to start.

They bypass the clutch switch by wiring it into the box that the key goes in...they install a switch on the stick, the e-brake, the doors (through the dome light), and the brake, so the the car has to be stopped with the brake pedal pushed in when you shut it off to arm it (it's really not that hard to get used to), shifter in neutral, e-brake on, then when it senses the door opens and closes, it's armed and ready to start...if all those conditions aren't met, it will not start the car. Had one installed on my 3000GT VR-4, and it was f-in sweet!
