Tuner

Hey guys, I really want to tune my car, and I am looking to get one soon, however I am alittle confussed on a few things;.
#1- I was the x-cal, and I understand it comes with tunes and what not, now those tunes you get do you just load to your car and it's done?

#2- Is the X-cal tuner something that anyone can tune their own car, or do I need to talk it to a shop to get it done? is it more advances then what a average person can do?

#3- when you buy the tuner, do you need to purchase the tunes, or are they free?

It depends were you buy the tuner from. It will come with 3 generic garbage tunes. Unless you know what you are doing, I wouldn't mess with the tune. Yes you plug it into the OBDII port and follow the instructions. Do you have a cold air intake already? If not you should buy one with the tuner because it will be cheaper in the long run. I reccomend BamaChips or Brenspeed.

Check out:

www.bamachips.com

and

www.brenspeed.com for custom tunes & tuners.

If you purchase from these two vendors, you will get three custom tunes along with your tuner when you purchase a tuner from them.

A tune can certainly be put in by you, provided you are capable of taking your time to follow the instructions in a manual.

It's pretty basic. When you get the tuner, the first thing that happens is your tuner makes a copy of the factory tune so you can always put it back in. You then install whichever performance tune you wish.

This is all accomplished by connecting the tuner to the OBDII port inside the car under the dash, and following the onscreen prompts on the tuner.

Just be sure to read the manual and fully understand what you are doing.
