How long to break in engine?

everyone tells me to go easy on the car at first, so i been driving it like a granny shifting at 3000 RPM never letting it get over 4000RPMS, when you guys think its ok to really get on the gas, i got 400 miles on it now.

in brand new engines (like 0 miles) your oil will break down very quickly because it's the first oil the engine has seen and it engine absorbs most of it.

Because that's when the engine is really breaking in, setting the rings, the cams, etc.

Some guys don't believe this, but although I beat the hell out of mine from day 1, I changed my oil over to synthetic and did that at 500 miles.

I would actually wait til 1500 miles before running the hell out of it/modding it.
a tuner here in my town thats been doing mustangs for 30 years said its a good idea to wait til that long, hell, my friend with the new gt500 took it there, and he said he wouldnt touch it til 1500 miles.

when i got mine i decided to just read the manual. it says nothing about driving it hard from day one. it does however say to not drive it at constant speeds for the first 500 miles i think. that just means no long drives immediately.

Yup, be nice to it as long as you want, drive it as hard as you want, just make sure you change that oil at 500...get all the shrapnel outta your engine...then again at 1500, then again at 3000...then mod the f*ck out of it!!!
