american racing longtubes


i asked this somewhere else too but wanted to make sure. Will a prochamber designed for longtubes fit without needing to be modified? can i buy the long tubes without the mid pipe so i don't end up buying a prochamber AND an h pipe?

You have to have an new mid pipe with longtubes. a mid pipe made for longtubes is shorter.

Yes all ARH headers come with a midpipe, either X or H. NO a Prochamber will not bolt right up, I just did one for mine and I had to relicate the hangers and make about 5 inch extensions to get it to fit, it sounds much better than the X that was on there but it does require some fabbing. Its not such a big deal that it should scare you away from it, the improvement in sound especially if your running a chambered style muffler is worth it.

i would go w/ the matching h or x pipe just bc they match and it will be an easier install. i like the looks of ARH, one of the best on the market and expensive too, the MAC prochamber is a lot cheaper and wont look as good IMO. but the prochambers do sound great.

I have the MAC LTs and a prochamber and didnt have to do any fabbing they lined right up on mine... But to answer the orginal question. With LTs you will need a new midpipe ( of your choice, but I recomend the prochamber ) and the midpipe you buy will not work untill you put the headers on. Its kind of a combo deal. But dont forget about all the other stuff you need as well to put LTs and a midpipe on...

Come on now, I was a Ford/Lincoln/Merc certified technician for four years, of coarse I installed it myself... I dont have a good answer for this one, like I said, everything lined up damn near perfect for me. All the hangers matched up and everything.

just kidding man. Can the average backyard mechanic like me, who at one time years ago was able to put an engine together, change out a clutch/transmission, do brakes, etc, get the job done?

yes i knew i had to buy a mid pipe i was asking if i could buy the longtubes seperately from the h pipe so it would be cheaper and i could get a prochamber to bolt up to it. I didn't want to end up buying a prochamber AND the arh mid pipe. I wonder how the ARH's, prochamber and borla stingers would sound. I might just make life easier and use their off road h pipe. Between my dad and I, should it take more than 5 hours to install?

Its not deficult to install, but you have to loosen motor mounts and reposition the engine to have room to meneuver around. If you guys are mechanically inclined then there is no reason you shouldnt be able to get this done. But it will definitally take an evening/night to get done...
