Cam swap out

I am thinking of replacing the cam in my 05 as my next power mod and I am looking at the crane kit from Bama; Camshaft kit 127350. Does anyone have any experience of this cam on the street as well as the strip? Any other reccomendations??

Leading on from this will be gas to get up to 500BHP (Im guessing 75hp jets), any thoughts on weaknesses in the stock short motor or transmission?

A 100 shot should be the max IMO, but I say the BBR Stage II cams. They are pretty aggresive, but still streetable.

Thanks, that makes sense; I guess thats Dougs part no. 127300?

It has an exhaust duration of 274. I heard that for street, 270 is about the max. Im going to stick to 100 shot of gas next season as you state; I use the car big time every day and I reckon Ill be about 485bhp (with gas). The combined motor mods and gas should be inside the transmission and bottom end tolerances.

I like the idea of gas as it is only on at the strip so the motor is only on about 385 on the street.

Thanks for your input, do you agree with this logic??

Lazyracer

I am also considering a cam swap as my next mod, and after talking to Doug (Bamachips), he recommended the 127350, or the new 127400 cam for my 07 GT. He said that these cams will give you the classic idle we all love, and they are still streetable. I also use my car as a daily driver, and I feel like the BBR stage II's might be a bit much.

I will probably stop by BBR sometime soon, and talk to those guys about their stage II cam. I just want to make sure that I don't over cam the car.

Are you also going to port and polish the heads?

I have thought about the heads, I understand that there can be serious gains from doing this. Make sure you post up what BBR say. Ive got a lot of faith in BAMA and I have also had no probs with BBR so its a tough call

whats the difference between the 127400' cam you mentioned, I cant see it on Dougs site?

Doug doesnt have the 127400 up on his site, but he can get it for you. Its a new cam that COMP CAMS just released. Its almost as aggressive a cam as the BBR stage II.

The first I had heard of the 127400 was when Doug mentioned it. The 127400 is also called the COMP CAM stage IV.

Ok you win lol.

The thing is the mod motors dont really benefit from a super aggresive cam.

Interesting comment, whats the rationale behind it?

that was in reference to when i showed him the big cammed vette...

cuz he was saying bbr stage 2 cams r big.. technically they are for OUR cars but not that because we can only go so much till it starts hurting our performance..

pushrods are different obviously because its a different type of motor and lets say a big cam will help them but hurt us..
