installed 4.10s

Just picked my car up. Had the 4.10s installed and a hurst short throw. I know most of you guys are the do it yourself type but Im too impatient. Anyway the 4.10s are awesome.

This engine loves the gear!!!!!! It really does. I should have done this sooner.

I like the hurst too even though the guy for some dumb ass reason put the stock stick back on it and left a message for me saying that the hurst stick was close to the stereo in first. And he will switch it if i want. Its easy to make the switch but I think I need something for the leather boot to fit. I will get that from him tomorrow and do that myself. Also he didnt give me my 3.55gears back like I ask. I said something to the manager and he said they have them and will box them up for me to get back.

I told them I want every damn stock part back. the stock shifter and gears and every stinking peice. Dealers never listen.

Oh well..... either way it shifts nice and again....if you dont have 4.10s get them!!!!!!

now just waiting for my rims and tires from AM to get here.

those are just the rumors of people that have not had gears installed.

you can get better gas mileage with 4:10's believe it or not and your top speed isn't going to be affected because your car(in general) doesn't make enough power to run out of gear.

congrats on the 4:10's OP

I was told it adds more Tourqe ?

If only we can find someone to install them where I live. There either way too expensive or dont have the experience to install properly...hence the whinning and clunking....Ive put a hold on my gear order which sucks because ive only heard good comments on 4.10's .....

They don't really add torque, they multiply the torque your engine sends to the axles by reducing the leverage the axles have working against the engine...making you accelerate faster...Gears FTMFW!

It may not "add" power to the car. But I believe it'll dyno with different numbers before and after. So in layman's language...it does add power to the pavement.

The dealer installed the short throw and the gears for me and charged me 4 and change. They dont break the labor charges down as to how much for the gears and short throw so I dont know.

as for how much they add..... frpp claims on their website that they, with the drag pack, will cut a half second off 1/4 mile time. Im not sure if they mean that from the 3.31 gears or the optional 3.55 gears that I had. I have everything from the drag pack now except the shorty headers witch i dont think add anything anyway. Either way the accelaration is increased significantly.. it is a big bang for your buck. and like i said the overhead cam engines love them becuase it loves the higher rpms.

As for gas mileage i cant answer that i have not had them in long enough.

And plus one on the person that said that 4.10s will not cut your top speed. unless your stang is running 200 mph you dont need to worry about top end. It is faster in every gear. Remember road race cars run 4.10s too.

They are great I should have done this first.

I had mine installed when it was dyno tuned, cost me $249.00 for the unit and $400.00 to install. I thought the labor was a little expensive but the concensus is pretty much the same from anyone else that has had it done. You can order your own set of gears from American muscle, for example, for around $150.00 but the cost for install is pretty much $300.00 to $400.00 across the board. As far as when to get them I know the computer has to be tuned for the gears so I would say a good time to get them installed is when you get your car tuned. I have SCT livewire with some canned tunes as well but to truly experience the most from your mustang you almost have to get it dyno'ed. My mods are pretty much the standard issue bolt ons and the last thing i did was the 4.10's and the tune. Before it was fast but now it hauls ass! Let me put it this way, I have to lag on the freeway onramp to let the cars in front of me clear the ramp because by the time i hit the top of the ramp im already doing around 80 mph, seriously. Thanks to the 4.10's Driving is more fun than Magic Mountain. 309 rwhp by the way...FTW

I would wait to get dyno tuned until you have more mods. You will be fine and happy with one of the tunes from BamaChips or Brenspeed. I definetly reccomend having it dyno tuned, but wait untim you have more mods.

So lets say you were to CAI and 4.10s at the same time, you wouldnt need to buy a tuner if you had a shop with a dyno install it for you and put it on the dyno??

If your getting your car dynoed then I dont think you need to get a tuner. They can do it for you there
