Wheel on a 05+

OK guys, I am looking into new rims. I am looking at some 18" wheels. what I am wondering is what size tire to get with this?

I am thinking 245/40-18. does anyone have experience with this, and if so how does it looki on the 05+. I know they have a little bigger wheel well, and then I was thinking 245/55-18.

I was talking with the tire people, and they were talking about a staggered set. after looking at a mustang with some, I really do not notice a difference big enough to justify the cost of the rear tires.

if anyone has any 18" set up on a 2005+ I would love to see pictures, so I know what it will look like before I drop that kind of money!

See I think the 50 looks better then the 40 cause it fills the wheel well alittle more. However the price difference is pretty good too!

how wide are the wheels. this is very important to the answer. also if they aren't wide out back then why spend money on them. get a 10 inch wide in the back if they are available in the wheel you're looking at. for the front i would go with an 8 1/2 or 9 inch. with a 10 inch in back you can put on a 315 width and that thing will look mean. mine are 9 1/2 out back and i can only fit a 295 on them. my fronts are 8 1/2 wide with a 255, but next time i'll go up to a 265 wide.

if you bought 275/45/18's your speedo would only be of by 1mph. Not that big of a deal. You wouldn't even need to tune it.

if I put a 245/40-18 on my front, will the wider tire hinder my steering, as far as rubbing goes?

I am not sure of the staggered set since you can not rotate them. makes it hard to get full life out of your rubber when you can not rotate them. however they do look good!!

anyone got any pics of a 315 on the rear? or even a 295?

Just run the rears till the cords are about showing ( just run your hand over the tire if it comes back bloody then its time for new tires ) and then all you have to do is buy 2 tires...
