Mobile 1 5w20 full syn, Castrol 5w20 full syn, or Amsoil 0w20 full syn (better for winter...)
Use 6-6.5 quarts. go off the dipstick, NOT recommendations. From my understanding, 4.6's like to spin bearings even at 1/2 quart low... I use Amsoil 0w20 year round. Never failed me. In an independent test (dyno tested by fast fours and rotaries mag), Royal Purple was rated 7th among leading oil manufacturers, tested were european castrol, amsoil, mobile, and others. Believe me, Royal purple is a Texas/Texan made product. If it didnt place as bad, I would be using it, I fully support anything my state makes. amsoil, castrol, and mobile won the test, placing as I just listed them (1,2,3) RP held a LOT of metallic particles, and changed viscosity a lot. Amsoil did neither, stayed perfectly consistent, and overall beat every other one on the market. Amsoil even challenged the other manufacturers to produce a better oil than them, and they would take down their statement of being the BEST IN THE WORLD. No one has been able to do that. Thats my suggestion, either of those three.

i'm gonna use royal purple myself. i think 5w-30. But as far as viscosity i'm kinda clueless. I jus know what I've heard. But...yea..
5w-30 Royal Puple Horsepower TV has done tests on this stuff... On a stock '00 Camaro SS, they changed all fluids (rear-end, transmission, engine) with royal purple and gained 10 or so rwhp over any other brand. They've done a number of tests like that, and each one is the same. Royal Purple>everything else.

You should read MM's post and ask him for the link, Amsoil, mobil one, and castrol beat Royal purple.

mustang jon, you gain the same horsepower switching to amsoil, mobil, or castrol.
Its not the brand, its the fact that you are going from a dinosaur oil to a full synthetic. Even though factory is a blend, it about a 5-10% blend of syn. Ive worked at oil places before, and this is why I will iuse Amsoil in my s197, and Castrol High Mileage in my Jeep-doesnt gunk up as much as other oils when you open up the engine And I was off on the placings, it had been a while since I looked at that. rp is tenth.

amsoil has since taken the test, and fast fours and rotaries allowed them to use it on their site.
http://www.worldsbestoil.ca/dyno-test.php enjoy.
