Check your plumbing...my windshield washer is as strong as it ever was...It comes out and you can hear it hiss as it hits the windshield, like going through a car wash...

EMAY, finally got the lurch eliminated!!!! During my 20 hour drive from Northwood to Spokane we were fighting a 40 m.p.h. headwind, and the lurch, even at .025 on the HT0's was awful, so about 7 hours down the road we swapped plugs and it's been completely blowout free. Went back to Motorcraft plugs in the stock heat range at .025 and it hasn't missed a beat. Those Autolite plugs just stopped firing after a few misses...apparently they were, I dunno what else to call it but shorted out from the unburned fuel. I'm never taking these plugs out again. That's 8 times in one week!

It feels like a midget kicking your seat, the car literally bucks, especially noticeable in 5th gear cruising as you go up a hill or something...BAM BAM BAM BAM...mine happened right at about 4 inches of vacuum all the way to 8 lbs of boost, if you're experiencing that, chances are your plugs are shot as well, It took me a few sets of plugs before I got a good set gapped where I need them...it makes your tune go crazy, your fuel pressure is all over the place, and you run stoich waaay too deep into the throttle...mine was so bad initially that it threw a check engine light...all the unburned fuel was forcing the rest of the cylinders lean, and the ecu blamed it on my MAF...which there was absolutely nothing wrong with. It sucks ass.

what about a boost a spark, wouldn't that be cheaper than the coils and it is only a 3 wire hook up

Yeah, you could do that. I looked into that, but would personally rather run a higher voltage set of coil packs. Besides, it wouldn't have fixed the blown plugs that I kept getting. I don't need any of it now! :award

hear ya, i will swap the plugs out and get it redynoed, i feel i got another 30+ wheel horsepower left in the car, mine starts breaking up around 4800 rpm with 9 psi.

it was pulling strong and made 466 wheel before i started pegging the mass air, and changed to sct 2800 and got some more out of it, last dyno pull made 479 rwhp at 4800 rpm but started falling on it's face and spiking real hard so we got out of it and i thought it was the plugs again

You pegged the Cobra MAF?! Damn! Those are pretty impressive numbers for running 9 psi...I'm jealous...most I've seen out of my 8 lb with the stock plug gap was 410 w.h.p. on stock exhaust and canned tune. I have a feeling all the power I'm missing was in the plug gap...fingers crossed...I'm in Spokane Washington the rest of the week, gotta find a dyno to make sure that spiking went away...mine was in the same rpm range as you on the graph. I know from the butt dyno, it's never run stronger or smoother.

mine made 412 rwhp on the canned tune and 422 rwtq, be took the tune out and started the custom tune, first pull which was rich made 446 rwhp and 477rwtq, 2 pulls later was 466 rwhp and 502 rwtq but the mass air was done it pegged at 5600 rpm, i have the 3.75" pulley which supposed to be 10 psi. but it only makes 9 psi. probably because of the longtubes

My 8 lb pulley showed 10 psi on the gauge the other day...but it was 25 degrees outside...how much did those long tubes get ya at the wheels? Cuz a full MAC setup and a drive shaft are my next 2 toys...

i was still na when i put the on and it was 11 rwhp, really don't know the difference with the kb, i do all my tuning on a mustang dyno so numbers are about 7% lower than a dynojet, i figure on a dynojet i should be around 515 rwhp, but no one around here uses it, it put 479 at shreve's automotive and 477 at 454dyno, and they both use mustangdyne dyno's

it helps alot we are either at or below sea level, so cars around here always put some good numbers with the thick air

So here's the result of the plug gapping:

8lb Kenne Bell Intercooled kit
Canned Tune
Stock Exhaust
3.73 FRPP Gears
Stock heat range Motorcraft plugs gapped at .025

SAE Corrected numbers:

Grabber, looks good man. I don't recall seeing your initial attempts on the dyno when blow out was occurring. Did you see significant improvement from then? I'm guessing on your initial session you probably never got a good full pull either.

405 h.p. was the most I saw until I got the spark nailed down...so HUGE improvement! Can't thank you enough...
