08 Bullet

Is anyone else less than overjoyed at what Ford is releasing as the 08 Bullet? It seems like a less expensive Shelby GT. 31k for it and only 315 crank ponies. I can get 15 extra ponies for a few hundred dollars. Other than that it is un inspiring. Some special badging and interior options thats it. I hope they dont do this to next Mach 1. If they follow what they did in the last Mach 1 it should come with a naturally aspirated version of the Cobra's 4 cammer engine. But it probibly won't. So far the only special edition worth anything is the GT500 and you have to pay 10-20k markup to get that. I guess I'm just disgrunteled.

It's a tribute car with a large following,Coulda used more power,But I bet it would give the original a run for it's money.

I like the retro look and the tribute they are paying to these classic cars but the part I hate is the markup. Back in 65 to 70 which I consider the best years these cars were all inexpensive and no one ever paid sticker. I remember being able to go in and spec out and order any car you wanted, wait 6-12 weeks and there it was. The dealer would show you the msrp and always discount the price.... then you would begin to "negotiate". I realize that inflation has driven the price from 3ooo to 30000 and am ok with that. The adding on dealer markup is what burns my butt. They should be discounting . If they discounted and let you order a car exactly like you wanted it, they would sell a lot more cars and 30 years from now we'd have a legacy of really amazing cars from the 2000's era. The really valuable and rare cars are because someone had the vision to sit down and order a 428 Cobrajet ,4 speed with gears ,etc in his favorite color. Original is what brings the big bucks not mods. Our modded cars will still be the best of today but the bone stock will bring the most money.(sorry bout the long post....Zippy made me do it LOL )

I read somewhere they will be available in early '08 with around 7,000 to be produced. Only 2 colors...a green, like the one Steve drove, and black...like zips clunker, lol. 315 hp at the crank and a tuned exhaust note to sound like the car in the movie, along with special badging.

The automakers need a boost,This car should help FORD!If greedy dealers don't ADM these to death.I realize that the ADM goes right to the dealer but it really knocks a lot of people out of the market.I would have been driving a GT500 for 45k,But at the time they were 55K,Thanks dealers,You greedy bastards!
