Best Exhaust Setup (Sound, Power, Cost)

I'm new to the Mustang world, just bought a new 08 GT. I'm about to put all new exhaust in, but before I did, I figured it wouldn't hurt to get some opinions and advice. Any recommendations?

My personal preference is the SLP Loudmouth I. I mean that is why I got it. The car sounds like an absolute beast when it starts up and when you're driving. There can be some drone particularly at medium speeds. But if you want something that is reasonably quiet most of the time and then only gets truly beastly when you get on it I would go magnaflow.

Flowmaster 44's alone will improve the sound.

As mentioned initially this is a personal preference question. I would suggest watching video clips (youtube, street fire and putfile to start), there's tons of em online. If you think your going to reproduce the sound of yester year out of these s197's, think again.. These cars produce a unique sound and if you haven't heard the sound you like yet, I suggest doing lots of listening before pulling the trigger.

I personally have heard numerous s-197's that in my opinion sounded like ass.

I have ther Pypes mid mufflers ( i believe they are called M-80's ) that came with my C300 Cervini's body kit( Cervini's web site said Magna Flow wich they discontinued with out informing me<<). I installed a Pypes O R H pipe also and is is so obnoxiouslly loud I am putting the Catted H Pipe back on to hopefully quiet it down to a bareable sound. ( sounds like a dodge truck with Glass packs) I am not 18 again where I don't know any better. I have had a Mustang before and street raced and put in 11 years with it as a mid 10 sec street car fully loaded. This exhaust to me was a big dissapointment by Pypes. Any others opinions if you have this muffler set up is welcome.

My plan is to run Mac longtubes/prochamber through the stock axlebacks...anybody heard a setup similar to that? I've been all over youtube and haven't really had any luck finding anyone running that combo.

Kooks, American Racing, or Mac Ceramic LongTube Headers, into a Catted H or X pipe, and bassani race, Borla, Corsa, or Pypes Mid Muffler setup. This is if you want considerable loudness, clean and deep sounding.

I love my Bassani, but if I were to do it again I would go with the Borla/FRPP (same thing) axle backs, off road Mac prochamber, and Mac long tube headers.

My advice is don't waste your $$$ on headers and all that if you're staying with the stock engine ... no real gains unless you're willing to delete the cats and don't have to worry about emissions.

YouTube is a good place to search as mentioned ... just type in "GT exhaust" and go from there.

After you watch this video make note that I had to replace the diff with-in days of this after noticing it wasn't pulling both wheels together. So, please easy on the flames. Also we were working on pressures for the new MT's and well it was toooo high lol obviously eh?

I love the tone of my JBA's. Nice and throaty. A great bonus is, 90% of the sound projects out the back of the car and not into the passenger compartment. Add some headers and you get this great boil undertone when stretching your leg. Good times.

SLP Loudmouths axle back, loud enough good sounding! no need for headers mid-pipes.... would be to loud with SLP's if u were running an o/r h or x pipe. if u drive it everyday i mean! dont get me wrong, i love the loud cars, but i also enjoy my daughter and wife to come along to!

I guess the MAC axle-backs sound amazing too, but haven't heard them yet. From what I understand they sound similar to the loudmouths, but smoother and just a little drone right at 2000 r.p.m. NEED MORE SOUND CLIPS!!! LOL!

I'm really happy with my FRPP/GTA's and with a good CAI they open up even more.
