Question

Hurst Short Shifter Yea or Ney?

Is it worth it to buy the short shifter, I am wondering if there are any real advantages other than the obvious shorter throws and it looks real f-ing cool in all the member pics lol
Does it harm the tranny in any way, etc etc feedback appreciated.

unless you're racing at the track, the stock shifter is fine. if u want the look u can just buy the shifter knob.

you make a good point I go to the track but maybe once a month, and what mostly has interested me is the nice look it gives. Maybe i'll think about this a little bit longer...?

No you have to have a Hurst shiter

And I would buy the Hurst shifter because they are very nice. I drove one of the new shelby GT's and it had a Hurst very nice and not to mention they look bad ass.

I have a Hurst in mine not the same one you guys got I have the billet plus but I love it.

Me and Lee B repin the Hurst crew

I found this quote in here it seems like it makes sense.

yea thats the whole point of having a short throw, to shift faster to go faster. its also a bit smoother to help stop misshifts.

Mine took all the slopyness out of the shifter. Made the shifts shorter of corse. And I have yet to miss third gear cause of it. I love mine and would never go back to stock. I wasnt sure when I first instaled it if I liked it when I took it down the road for the first time but I got used to it and love it now. I would never go back to stock

I have also driven a Shelby GT with the hurst shifter. I liked the shorter throws but as far as the design it does not differ form the factory except for the ratio and handle. The only thing that firms up the shifts are the upgraded bushings. I prefer when upgrading the shifter to really upgrade the shifter. The Steeda, Pro 5.0, and MGW are all more durable and more well made, plus have the advantage of shift stop bolts to prevent tranny damage during hard shifting. Just my thoughts as far as the sexy handle you could get a handle and shift ball for the look. I personally went for the polished billet steeda shifter and think it is sexy as hell.

Hey Killer, You got my car! actually mines a year older. The short throw definately will make your drive much more enjoyable. I t is very inexpensive and you can install it yourself in about 1 hour. How bout some pics of your ride?

Appreciate the job you guys are doing over there. When I bought my car my credit was screwed but when I told the dealer I was a vet some guy from ford motor credit called me back and approved me for a loan to buy my car. God Bless America! Must be karma, man.

it does all of the above and the stops will keep you from hurting anything when you are really slamming the gears. i can't say that the steeda tri-axe is the best because i'm not willing to buy and install all the other options. i do love it and you don't miss gears unless your foot is faster than your hand

The general concensus is that the top shifters for our cars are MGW, Hurst, and Steeda in that order.
