lol point taken. Well, actually you could go even lower...4:56s?

While we are talking about gears...you guys that have non-stock gearing...did you notice any difference/improvement in the driveline slop with the lower gears?

Understood some of you have an aftermarket drive shaft...

Mickey thompson e/t streets?

I was lookin to pick up sum tires and wheels for track use. I want to get the race star 15 by 10s outback and the skinnies up front. What tire sizes do you guys recomend? I was looking at the 26 and 28s tall tires but not sure idk if my prokit springs will affect anything which ones should I go for. is there any modifications to putting theses wheels/tires on? Would this also affect my gears I have 4.10s

Ok been reading this thread and i went looking for some gears. Well i did look on AM and found several different brands. Anyone better than another? Also Motive and Richmond have gears bigger than 4.10s and Motive had a 3.90 i believe. How do those sound? Just asking.

What are you specifically looking at doing that your looking at getting bigger than 4.10's?

The best gears imo are Ford branded gears (FRP). It's been awhile and I can't quite remember but doesn't FRP make a bigger gear than 4.10 you can buy?

From what I understand from previous posts, is that Motive gears have alot whine to them.

If you change your rear gears different from stock, you will need to get speedo recalibrated which is done by a tuner/dealer computer. If your car has more than 50000 miles on it, it's best to get the bearing kit. I went ahead an got the clutch disc pack also. I went with Richmond gears, but yet to have them installed. Next on my list.

Get the bearing kit. You can change the speedo with a hand held tuner by adjusting the gear ratio when uploading a tune. If you do not have a tuner, get one. It should be the first mod you do, before gears or anything, imo.

No, 4.56s is the largest gear that will fit in the 8.8" differential. 4.88s+ will not fit.

Yes, order the bearing kit. Do it right the first time for the little money it costs. It's worth the money for the piece of mind that you've got brand new parts.

No one will be able to calibrate the speedometer beyond using a programmer to do it. The dealer can sometimes but depending on the gear size and tire size maybe not.. Either way, just pony up and spend the money on a programmer. My recommendation is a SCT Xcal3 from a reputable tuner like VMP Tuning.

Well in that case you're good to go. Just go through the menu and you'll be able to change the gear ratio, tire size, etc. I guess you never went through the Menus?? Haha
