Well if you do update this, USE A FU**IN' PERIOD or some type of punctuation at the end of your sentences. I'm not trying to be the Grammar Nazi here, but damn.

a 99-00 will not run you near as hard as an 01-02, those put almost 330-350rwhp down, with just an exhaust. I have a buddy htat did just that on an m6 02 camaro z28.

The LS1 was always under-rated. MM&FF dynoed 317rwhp from a 2002 SS. Changing the exhaust from the headers back will give you maybe 25 extra for a full system but not much for just a cat-back. Not much difference between the 98 and the later ones either. The '98 TA put down 297 rwhp stock. The LS1 Z28s have the peanut-shaped headlamps, the LT1s have the recessed four square lamps. The LT1s run low 14s, the LS1s can run low 13's.

My friends LS1 ran 12.89 stock except for a cat back. Those things are beastly. His is a M6, my auto Z couldnt break a 13.5 for the life of it.

As an enthusiast of all cars I have owned and driven lots of them so here goes.LT1 experience was with a 97 40th anniv edition I rebuilt the auto on and then test drove stock,It pulled harder than any other older LT1 that I had driven,Possible 3:42 gears factory don't know,But if this is what you are going to run,Watch out.LS1 cars are straight up pretty damn powerful stock,Don't discount one just because it has an automatic,Because with traction these are easier to drive for the average joe.LT1 pulls harder on the bottom end,LS1 pulls harder on the top end.So if you can find out what it is give yourself a better chance by choosing from roll or dig,I always race from a dig but don't know what you prefer.Eiher way just some info for you,Good luck and let us know how it plays out!

Traction is still a problem with the Z28. Best I ever got from a low-rpm roll off the line on my 1998 auto on street tyres was 13.8 but it trapped 105 plus which gives an indication of the top end hauling power. I found that the LS1 and LT1 are pretty level at 1/8th mile but the LS1 then leaves the LT1 which runs out of breath and traps around 97/98. The greater torque tends to just spin the rears up more.

The low 13 was the best the MM&FF guy could get out of the 2002 SS - think it was 13.17 but that's on street tyres.

Its gunna be tough if its an LS1. Could be a drivers race. An LT1 should be no problem though

I can stay out in front of one, but off the line, they are murdered, and after that, they scoot up a little.
They are build for top end, not bottom, like us.

Top end power can be helped by delete plated and headers...anything you can do to lessen the restriction of airflow...
