Got Forced Induction

i need a little help here i have an 05 gt and just bought a powerdyne sc for my car the kit came complete with head unit 8psi, fuel pump, 39lbs injectors sct tuner with pre tune for 91 oct, maf sen and all the pipe to install and go. I got it at a great price 2600 brand new from a closeout sale and they dynoed a stock gt and the kit made 399rwhp and 370rwtq. Now the kit is what i want but is there anything else i need for the kit to work perfect........ fmu or does the computer fix that problem with the tuner.

> I also spoke to some one on the phone and he said to relocate the temp sensor to read the temp after the blower so it can read the right temp. He also told me that i should get a custom tune from a shop and run a 93 oct bc he would never trust the tunes on them.

> What plugs should i go with i know i need a colder plug as well. Any sugestions?

just a warning now; their wont be any good responses to your situation. Powerdyne although cheap is a terrible alterative to a good blower. You get what you pay for, and no offense by all means.

Doze, if you can get a refund. There's a reason the shit is so cheap. Your going to have more headaches than you know what to do with.

I would suggest doing a lot more reasearch in the future before buying something this expensive, you could have been saved the guaranteed pain to come.

The power level your talking about requires no change in plugs.

What "pump" did they supply, I'm guessing something you need to piggy back and splice in with yours, which won't be very much fun.. Easier to do a boost a pump or a gt500 dual layout..

Who was the someone on the phone? Someone at powerdyne? Someone the vendor? I would think the person would be more technical about what to move, where to move it, and supply that technical information with the kit, not verbally.

eh powerdyne......bad idea, but hey maybe you'll have better luck than everyone else that got one. you won't very often find someone that has one due to the lack of quality. that is an understatement. i think i've heard of 1 person that did one. don't remember anything about the deal though.

The weak link is the entire kit. I have heard nermous horror storys about head units locking up. Like Emay said if you can return the kit, I would highly recomend doing so. Are those units self contianed? I would try to save up for one of the more reputable SCs. Sorry man, but those units just down right suck... I hate to say that being as you just bought a brand new one, but they do.

Also, If you do get a refund and are looking at other kits ( start with procharger ) be sure to look at the inner-cooled kits. Then come and thank me later...

LOL, Fast tryin to bring another one over to the dark side...

Even if you don't return and go to a procharger, look into the whipple, Kenne Bell, vortech, or paxton.. save for them, there's reasons why people vouch for these companies.

Most common complaint is cracking of the head unit. Pretty common, secondarily the impeller is suspect to breakage believed to be caused by the fact that these chargers are driven by internal belts and drive pulleys. This is one of their catches for advertisement too which is a bit rediculous.

Lastly, they were having trouble with their mounting brackets not being produced correctly. Initially blaming it on runs of product for different car types getting mixed together in packing, but it was truly a poor quality control thing that powerdyne neglected to admit. Couple that with failing brackets, which were breaking from relief cuts that were being made to reduce weight, and all that was enough to make most people stay away.

I'll be honest, I'd return the thing. See if the wife would remove the restrictor plate if you saved for another 6 to 12 months. You can get into many of the higher quality non-intercooled kits for another 1500 to 1800 bucks.. Then do the intercooler later..

You need the intercooler im in the north east but in the summer it gets hot i would need one before then. vortec had one for 3499 at 9psi but i dont want to go that high

You will be fine at 9psi. It doesn't go by the amount of boost, it is the horsepower you are laying down. 9psi would be like 440-450rwhp which is perfectly safe with a good tune.

thanks 06 hey i spoke to doug at sutton and we talked about the powerdyne and he said that it wouldnt be bad he had one for four years before he had something go wrong but i have decided to go with a paxton set for 200 bucks more after the rebate. He told me that this unit with 6-8lbs of boost will lay down 420 and i will be able to go 100,000 plus on the motor with good tune with no prob. yeah your right its that 500 + mark that seems to be no good now i just have to get my deposit back
