as long as the piping matches and the IC is capable of cooling whatever heat you plan on throwing at it.

You need at least 2.75" but going with 3" is usually the standard.

Don't go any smaller than 3", remember procharger bumps up to 3.5 on the top return pipe that house the MAF in prepartion for the largest possible entry into the throttle body..
Keep in mind that prochargers intercooler comes with everything you need and the tubing is all protective coated to reduce heat soak to the piping. There's a reason they are so expensive. Everything on ebay is raw or simple painted for the most part. |

Do they sell a spray that will retain the heat like if you wanted to coat something

rx, I'm not dogging on you here, so please don't take it that way, just my point of view. If you're going to drop or have dropped all this money on a power adder and protection of the system/engine is paramount, hence looking for an intercooler, why not get the intercooler designed specifically of the system that could blow up your motor? To me it just doesn't make sense to take shortcuts like these.

Scramblr im not taking it personal what so ever i know where your coming from and to be honest with you, you are right. I was just trying something diff. People do that stuff all the time, diff combos and stuff. I eat that stuff up when you go down to the track and you see something no one has seen. For example the guy who built his turbo system out of john deer tractor parts and has 150,000 miles on the motor. Everyone finds a short cut is what im saying. And if it works "you win" and then get to pass that info on. People love when they are able to beat the companies and say they did it them self. Thats all

i'd like to put my drivetrain in an 60's model after i upgrade my car with new stuff. cars are lighter and it would get damn good gas mileage for having well over 300 ponies

![]() Is there a reason the earlier Mustang models were lighter? Less reinforcement and structural rigidity? Less something or other? Engineers and economists typically have reasons for everything, I'd definitely be interested to see what something like that did. Especially with a well thought out F/I system! Though I don't think I'd want to be caught in an accident in an early model car.... Please, Pschyo Bob! Be the forum's, retro-guinea pig!

Im not mad at all i just wrote a entire post explaining some thing and it was erased. All in all i view this as a hobby its not about but a 2 dollar intercooler that looks like my 4 year old nephew welded it. I like doing diff things but you still have to keep the basic principles in mind i dont try a defy that. One of the first cars i had i put a make shift home depot ram air setup on it and it made 8rwhp. Its all about the hobby and enjoying what you do with it.

What type of intercooler are you going to run? ( air to air, ect.. ) depending on that will decide what kind of matieriels you need...

Im going to run an air to air because thats what paxton uses. The intercooler that comes with the paxton kit only flows 1000cfms. Im really looking for some pics that show the piping and where the brackets get mounted to. From there i can weld the pipes if i know the correct bends that i feel is the only real tricky part. There is also a guy on the internet that said he can bend the pipe all i would have to do is weld it. It also needs to be 3" pipe so im following the same system as paxton just different parts. That is the direction im looking to go but its all still on the drawing board. And you are right about the parts as well, if im not able to find good quality parts on my own to build the kit then i would go with the paxton kit. It takes a lot of research and time but i could save over $1000.
