Alot Of Research (Cams)

Ok, Ive been doing alot of research on cams for my 2006 mustang gt auto. And I just came across a previous thread that mentioned smog testing for having cams.!!! I live in California where we have the strictest smog testing in the country. Can I put cams in my car or will it not pass smog?!

unless you know a good smog shop that you wouldn't mind tossing a $50.00 at.

CA is Bad man..

I spent 6 years in San Diego..

Even CAI's can be illegal..
I would just pay to have it "smogged"

Yea but now we have to worry about smog smelling under cover vans. These vans are going to sit on on ramps to freeways and detect emissions!!!

So heads wont be good either? This sucks

You could pass them off as stock, the only way to notice is the sniffer, which you can get by if the cam is small enough. I mean how would they instantly know it was an aftermarket head, particularly the van?

the also have road side smog stations.
legally you don't have to consent to it.

there is a bill out for it.

it will piss off the cop but you won't have to do it.
as far as the van's go .. there is so much smog on the 5/805 there is no way it would hold up in a court case.

The days of paying someone to overlook things are pretty much long gone since the State computer plugs into the cars OBDII port. There is no way to get by it. You need to stick with Smog Legal Speed products sorry to say.

And trying to pay someone 50,100 or even 200 to help you is an insult since it can get them fined over 10k if they get caught.

as long as it has a carb sticker your good to go.

just keep your stock parts in the garage or something for when smog time comes around.

One thing you can't do is longtubes, they won't pass visual. Any type of forced induction also make sure its carb approved. Cali is pretty bad, but have you ever seen how awful inspection is in europe? Count your lucky stars it isn't that bad.

Exactly the part has to have a CARB EO# on it.

Some examples of these parts would be JBA Shorty Headers, Most CAI that DO NOT require a tune, Mufflers, Shorty X Pipes, UDP, Any of the Supercharger that are CARB approved. I think Saleen,Whipple/FRRP Vortech, Procharger and not sure who else.
