NOS Fuel Octane Booster?

Has anyone tried the NOS octane booster? Using 93 octane unleaded, this additive is supposed to boost the octane up to 100. My tuner Dave and I are going to experiment with a tune using this stuff. Has anyone else tried it? He tuned my GT which has the Steeda CAI, drop pullies and an SCT tuner for 93 octane and the car ran 8:52 at 83 mph in the 1/8th mile. This was with BFG drag radials and a 4:10 rear end.

fuel octane boosters
are a joke.

I wouldn't advice you trying to write a tune with it.
there are too many variables that could go wrong.
if you want to use a 100 tune go buy 100 octane man.

octane booster

I dont think it can boost it that much.I think it takes something like three points to boost one octane number.

104+ octane booster might boost your octane 1 point if you dumped 3 of them into your tank with only 2 gallons in it. It might help if you're getting alittle detonation in the winter or something with an aggressive tune but it sure ain't gonna be a reliable substitute for a C16 tune or whatever you're trying to accomplish.

DO NOT use it, it is CRAP! and it will not boost your octane from 93 to 100. It will only boost it to 93.3

If you want a real Octane Booster that works use this and nothing else.

Torco Race Fuels - Accelerator - Unleaded Fuel Concentrate - 10oz.

104 at the track ONLY runs like $7 a gallon, but i'd rather pay that than chance using that crap.

Atleast spacers work a little on engines with carburetors.

This product made by NOS is not available at Auto Zone or any of those stores. I looked at their products and they raise the octane 10 points or 1 octane number. This product raises the octane 60 points which is about 6 octane numbers. My tuner has experimented with it before with great results. He has just moved here from the Chicago area and his tunes are really great and have been proven on the dyno. The drawback to this product is the price. It is very expensive and contains a small shot of nitro methane, which is not found in any of the octane booster products that I have looked at. I know it would be much easier to use higher octane unleaded racing fuel, but that is not available in our area. Thanks for the responses and I will let you know how this worked out next spring when we go back to the track.

You're going to fry your plugs, it's been done plenty of times. You can not use octane booster in these cars unless it's something like Torco.

They claim to boost your octane so many points, but the fuel in your tank can only absorb so much MMT or tolulene, so it will show more improvement in a tank of 87 octane than in 91 or higher...here's a great article:

Great article, thanks. Looks like the NOS may not be the answer to an improvement. Maybe I need to find some high octane unleaded and bring it home.
