Just Ordered A New GT!

I have to admit I've always been a Chevy guy untill the new style Mustang came out. Couldn't stop dreaming about one so I ordered a 08 Grabber Orange GT 5-speed. When it comes in the dealership is adding a chrome finish Roush SC, a 4-piece GT body kit from Fordaccessories, a set of SilverHorse louvers, and a GMW shifter. I will add ceramic headers, X-pipe exhaust, and window tint later.

I can't decide if I want side scoops or not, what do you think?

Also thinking about color matched outside mirror covers, the kind that covers the whole mirror. Do they look good and are the guys that have them satisfied with them?

I would like to keep the wheels at 17'' and kinda like the 93-94 Cobra style. I would like to know the best tire size combo front and rear. What is the widest I could go keeping the 27'' height with stock suspension? What backspacing do I need?

Sorry, this is a lot of questions at one time but any help would be great!

Congrats on the new car! Sounds like its going be very nice .

With the 05+ cars, you have to do ATLEAST 18" Rims to be nice, 20s are really nice on 05+ too.

welcome, and there are a lot of guys who will say go for bigger rims, but if you want performance tires (drag radials perhaps?) stick the the 17. you can go as wide as 315mm on stock parts, but the wheel size would need to be at least 10". look at some of the aftermarket wheels if you want wider tires out back.

For sizing, check out AmericanMuscle.com's wheel category. they have a lot to offer, and are very informative. For being a member here at MM, you also get a 6% additional discount from their low prices and free shipping... just another option.

Looks like you will have a great time with your new GT!

Good info, and thanks for letting me know about the discount. This is going to be a long winter with waiting for my car the first half of it, and not being able to drive it untill spring anyway.

I would recommend saving your money on the roush blower, it is not as efficient as the twin-screw superchargers for these cars. I recommend Saleen, Whipple, or Kenne Bell. congrats on the new car and welcome

Congratulations on your new ride. I think you will be far happier with an 18" wheel. The 17 just doesn't fill the wheel well properly in my opinion. This is what mine looks like with the factory 18 inch 64W wheel from the Cali Special cars:
