If your gonna go with the Hurst wait until the new ones are in stock. I have a bunch of them orderd. They should be in stock at places that have ordered them in a couple weeks.
They have the stop bolts, and all the other stuff. the throw is a 40% reduction which is more then the other hurst. If your not sold on the mgw yet let me know. I have had the ford hurst, the pro 5.0 and the steeda now i can tell you what i think about those three. The only thing the mgw has that the rest does not is the turn adjustability. some of the others are adjustable but not in the way or to the extent that the MGW is. |

I dont agree thats its a better contrusction but the adjustability is there from 20 to 50% reduction.
I have a freind who has one, he loves its. I drove his car, the stick was very low? is that becuase he had the nob all the down for adjusting the throw? I didnt really like it that low, on a road course i would be searching for that thing. maybe one of the mgw mafia can tell me why? he had that black ball mgw stick on it. For the steeda the throw is shorter then the pro 5.0 or the frpp hurst, i like that aspect of it better. Shifts are good. if you go to their site and read about the shifter they take a pot shot at the MGW, its funny if nothing else. They basically said if mgw would build it better maybe they wouldnt have to include the dynomat to hide the noise. The steeda is nice though second to third is good. PRO 5.0 is sweet going to third, man you dont even have to guide it, i think you could just slap that thing and it would go to third. The pRO 5.0 is quite, no rattles no nothing. The thing thats kind of bad about the pro 5.0 is reverse, maybe its just mine i dont know, i got an upgraded bushing put in mine becuase the one i bought was sitting on somones shelf for years and they came out with new bushings. But you still kinda have to muscle it into the reverse a little. the throw is a little longer then i want and i have it in the bottom holes for the shorter setting, i still want it shorter. As for throw and feel of shift, the "cheap" frpp hurst was my favorite especially with he stock stick on becuase it made the throw even shorter. Thats why im kinda pumped about the new hurst, shorter throw, adjustable stop bolts, all the bell and whistles of the other shifters and im hoping the tight, crisp short throw im looking for. One thing is for sure everyone who has the mgw loves it, i only met one person that didnt like it. Last edited by 07stanggt; April 5th, 2008 at 10:18 AM. |

mgw ftw! well, in all fairness i have felt the hurst and it doesn't feel bad but it has no return springs whereas the mgw has some nice beefy ones and feels a lot better to me. the mgw is really easy to install.
as for turns i have tried it at 8 and it feels really notchy i set it back to 5 turns and may up it to 6, but it's worth a try it only takes like 10 minutes to adjust just jack it up again and one bolt.

Yea your right about the hurst thats been out, but the new one has springs and stop bolts. and it has a 40% reduction in throw. The old hurst was 32% or little better if you put the stock stick on it. |

Nope... stick height is adjusted at the block that holds the shift knob stick in place. |

yea stick height is independent of # turns. you adjust position of stick to almost anywhere 360deg in the boot + any height
