Finally Got My BBK Throttle Body To Work

I bought a bbk 62mm throttle body for my 06 gt a while back and when i first tried it on i had the same problems everybody did. Surging on idle. When I gave it some gas, the car would hang at whatever rpm i let my foot off at. I called bbk and told them about this and they told me it may be the TPS voltage. I followed the instructions and adjusted the brass plunger on the throttle body so that it was equal with the car's tps voltage.

It still didnt work. I called bbk again and they told me to ship it to them and they would set it up with a car. They asked if i had a cold air intake on the car, which i do. They think that the CAI may have been throwing it off. When i got it back from bbk i put it on the car with the CAI still on it and the throttle body worked fine. I started receiving check engine lights later on, though. Then i let the car sit overnight with the battery disconnected. Now i no longer receive check engine lights.

I actually ordered that T/B this past summer...then after talking to a bunch of guys on here....I sent it back and bought my UDP'S instead. I was told that you will recive little to no gains with a T/B on these s197 n/a . Lots of F/I guys here still run their stock T/B's ...but good luck to ya!

yeah. if i could send it back i would. it was a big pain in the ass but on the dyno i got a 12 rwhp increase prolly cuz of the cai going to it. i went from 304 to 316 rwhp and 10 more ft-lb of torque.

I would say that came from the CAI and not the T/B...but cool!

Its been good. Not too much noticeable power increase, but it sure is louder on start up. I have the fans come on earlier now which I'm happy about, and turned of CAGS. In case you didn't know cags is the worst thing ever. In certain situation it makes you shift 1st to 4th instead of 2nd.

You happy with yours?

No it was at 304 before just the TB. I have full exhaust and an S&B Cold Air Intake. When I sent it back I had them adjust the TB specifically with the CAI. If i put my stock CAI on the car again the TB would be off again.

The t/b's really are a pain in the ass, if I were to upgrade it would be the GT500 t/b.

I dont think the GT500 TB will work on the 4.6. Now that Ive been looking around, it does look like the stock TB is a good one for the configuration of the stock motor. But that BBK 62 mm's butterfly opens up so much more air its unbelievable. I'd have to think that if i had a supercharger and injectors the TB would really help out.

Problems?

So overall everybody seems to be fairly unhappy with the BBK TB. Is it just the idle surge problem, or is there more to it? I mean, the car has complete intake and exhaust with performance headers, and is getting tuned soon. TB is one of the few things left without changing internals. Any other recommendations other than the TB and underdrive pulley since the TB is crap?

I've been thinking about a way to cool the air even more. If you could get that air coming in from the CAI to be even colder it would be even more efficient. lol dry ice time!

hey 07 procharger, how much of a difference did that diablosport 93 octane tune give you? i've been trying to decide between the SCT or the diablosport. I cant wait to see the difference in hp with my s&b intake. I picked up 18 rwhp without a tune. With a tune i should be around 30.
