Rattle From Hurst Shifter On '08 GT

I'd discovered over the weekend that under hard acceleration there's a rattle in my tranmission/shifter. Took it to Ford this morning and they just called and said its the Hurst shifter rattling in its mounts and that they test drove a GT with the stock shifter and it did the same thing, just not as loud, and that they'd had another GT in recently with the Hurst shifter that rattled also. They tell me the noise is more pronounced with the Hurst because of the harder bushings and there isn't anything they can do about it. Anyone have a solution? I saw this on the 2005 TSB's but didn't run across a solution. Its more of a knocking sound than a rattle, and only when I really jump on it, so I can live with it if I have to as long as the people outside the car can't hear it (don't want them thinking "what a POS Ford"), but it seems if this problem were discovered 2 or 3 years ago, they'd have come up with a fix by now.

I have posted in depth about my adventures with this problem. You can search them. My post are pretty recent, I explain exactly when mine does it. The latest post where i talk about this is titled "new mods". In short frpp said there is a recall on the hurst shifters and told me to call them back in two weeks they are waiting for the new ones to come in. That was a week ago. The recall is for a rattle in the ball and probably not related to what you and I have but it does make the rattle more pronounced. He said there have been other complaints like mine and yours and when the new ones come in they would test it and he would know more.

The dealers dont know jack squat about these hurst and willl say whatever. When I talk to FRPP again I will post it. Also if you want, send me a pm and I will reply when I know more.

That is a bullshit answer about the stock shifter doing it as well. Mine never did.

Exellent choice my good man, I will suggest you set it to 6 turns... it seems to be the best setting, for me at least
