Removing AC
i was wondering if there would be any HP gain in removing the AC unit. i never use my AC at all, plus i only drive this car on the weekends. if anyone has done this, can you let me know if its is worth it and how hard it would be? thanks

The gains would be too small to justify.

Was wondering this the other day too - would there be any HP gains, or just fuel efficiencies?
BMW has a system coming out soon that disengages the alternator when it's not needed, but they're hawking it as an efficiency gain, not performance, so no idea how much it would help. |

^That won't make a difference. It just sounds good to rich tree huggers who don't know jack shit about cars. I prefer the KISS method (Keep It Simple Stupid).

all you would get would be weight savings.
like 50lbs. which equals like 5 hp. in weight to power terms.

i have seen some hp pickup usually only 7-12 rwhp when removing it on the older 5.0 cars, you will have some gain because you aren't dragging the a/c clutch and rotors. but it already disengages when you are at WOT so it really isn't worth it
