Traded My '05 GTO For A New GT

Hello,

I just traded my 05 GTO on a new silver GT 5-speed. I took it right in the shorts on my trade, as GTO depreciation is terrible; however, the 0% for 72 made up the difference.

The GTO interior is nicer, and it has more room and power, but it is more expensive to modify, and it's only a few tenths slower in the 1/4, which I can live with. What really swayed me was the concept of no interest, and I love the retro styling. Not to mention that the Challenger I am droolibg over will be almost twice the cost of my GT by the time the dealers get done raping prospective buyers.

Anyway - looking forward to learning more.

Welcome to MM and the big blue oval. The GTOs can be quick but need alot of work to get them there. There are several out our local track and can't keep up with most of my Mach buddies. You will enjoy the GT and Ford Racing has 2 different kits - Drag pack and Handling pack that really step up the GT. A buddy of mine has both on this 05 and he keeps up with me pretty good.

Drag pack - 4.10s, CAI, shortie headers, and Hurst short throw shifter. Will lower 1/4 mile times by .5 http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=8987
Handling pack - lowering springs, struts, sway bars, and strut tower brace http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=8976

It's too bad that GM didn't have a usable 2 door RWD platform for the GTO. Thus, the reason to go with the Aussie grand am. You can't deny the potency of the LS2 6.0. The exterior styling (or lack thereof) along with IRS and being pig-heavy are not in their favor. The interior and hp are awesome IMHO. I wish Ford believed in that kind of displacement.

The good thing about the GTO, Challenger, and soon to be introduced Camaro is the competition for Ford. It will force them to bring in some more potent engine combos to compete.

you can find the frpp parts online for cheaper. i would take the price to the ford parts department and see if the will lower their price. congrats on the new better ride. only 3 months before i get mine...

Welcome to MM and congrats on seeing the light.I agree the GTO missed the retro look and no matter how fast it may be it can never be a muscle car it just plain looks like it was made in Japan.I have enjoyed showing a couple of them my taillights already

I am jealous of 05/06 GTOs - 400hp naturally aspirated at the flywheel. I wish Ford put 400hp naturally aspirated in my 05 Stang GT. I am sure in a few years ford will catch up.....after all when the new Camaros and Trans Ams come out - the Stang will need to keep up!

Yeah the LS1 & LS2 motors are awesome! But the GTO platform just murders thier performance ability!Ive heard more than one chevy guy state their dislike of the GTO & the name its giving Chevy performance!I have seen some fast ones though(With a ton of work done).
