new C&L + tuner!
Just finished installing the new CAI and and X3 tuner last night, things went well aside from doing it at 1am in sub-freezing temps in my garage, heh. She started up fine and I took her for a light ride around the block to check for any sensors or malfunctions, and things all looked great! I was very pleased with the response for it! My buddy helped me who is mostly a Chevy guy, and we both noticed that the extra support bracket supplied with it, doesn't match up well with the cam head bolt and was curious how some of the 07 GT owners out there got it to bolt on nicely? or did you just ignore it?

i had a similar problem with my old K&N, I had to shave down the corner of the cam cover to get the support bracket flush against the cover.

Yea, I saw the K&N kit, it uses a slightly different bracket than the one with C&L. I was trying to figure out if I should remove the bolt on the cam cover, but it has one of those rubber stopper bolts that you can't even fully unscrew, so I couldn't see how I was supposed to bolt to it.

if you unscrew the bolt on the cam cover and then pull it out, it comes right out. thats the bolt i used for the K&N. that stupid support bracket was the hardest thing about installing the K&N.

yea, I was able to loosen that bolt, but the rubber stopper prevented it from being removed, unless you take out the rubber stopper too. How did ya manage to remove the bolt itself?

yea that C&L bracket was a pain. I ran the intake without it and it still ran great. I think the airbox took most of the weight off of the intake arm.

That's how I have it now Mav, made sure to tighten up all the clasps on the intake arm to keep it pretty stiff, and I have the brackt attached to the MAF, but it isn't bolted in to the cam case like they said to, I just couldn't figure out how to get that bolt apart, it was late, it was cold, I wanted to drive her! hah. Thanks for the help guys/gals (if we have any)

if you pull on that bolt the rubber stopper comes out along with the bolt all in 1 piece. but if your air filter stays on w/out the support arm then i guess its ok to leave it off. the support arm is just to minimize movement so the air filter doesnt get vibrated off. (wait that sounds weird. lol) so i guess what i'm saying is if it aint broke dont fix it.

Yea. that's part of the problem though, the rubber stopper comes out with it, so how do you get the bolt through the bolt hole? heh, I think I'm figuring out why my friend is a Chevy guy. haha.

Just don't use the bracket. In a DVD that came with an issue of MM&FF it showed how to install a C&L intake and there was no support arm. It just attached by the heat sheild and throttle body.
