I hate to think optimistically but is seems to run smoother as in throttle seems more even on power up even tho I haven't stepped on it yet.

It feels more responsive as well. Definitely didn't go the wrong direction. So yes I do notice a difference. Subtle but it'll put a smile on your face.

Shaker + CAI

I'm new to this board but this looked like the closest topic to a problem that cropped up on my 07 GT so please bear with me as I'm somewhat of a newb when it comes to modding cars. (This being the first car I ever had that didn't have parts falling off, much less be capable of modifying).

As I said, it is an 07 Mustang GT which I had the dealership's custom department add a "power pack" (CAI + Chip, headers, exhaust etc.) to as well as a Shaker scoop. Looks awesome. However, apparently the two don't get along.

Word is from the engineers that the Shaker forces so much air into the CAI that it develops a turbulence in the air box which totally mucks up the airflow sensors for the computer. In short, it can't keep track of the air pressure and so the engine backfires, stalls, etc. Runs fine with stock airbox and Shaker scoop. I am sure it would run fine with the CAI only and no Shaker (Since so many people run a CAI on their cars it must work right?)

Anyone heard of this issue, a fix for it or have any advice? The Custom guy is contacting Ford Racing about the issue, but I figured to do a little info gathering on my own.

Thanks for the help and your patience.

UPDATE:

My dealer took the car to JBA performance (makers of JBA headers etc.) who also do tuning and such. Since they too uses the Steada CAI (which is apparently what the Ford Racing Power Pack uses) they were able to tune the car to work fine with both the CAI and Shaker system, using an SCT tuner. (The dealer had to pay for the tuner and tune and then give me the tuner, so that was a 500+ dollar savings for me and now I have a much better tuner than the Ford racing one).

Going to go have it dynoed today (if I can get in before they close) and see where I stand.
