How to fix this....ducktail spoiler

ok i got the ducktail on and the side pieces are perfect..they fit extremely well...but the center piece is a little out of whack...the center fits perfect but the ends don't want to go down...so it doesn't fit just right...heres some pics of what im talking about.....tape isn't holding these sides down...its extremely stubborn...what do ya'll suggest...screw, rivet??? Emay how did you get yours to fit soo nicely???

then see how it doesn't follow the trunk...

i mean if i take that portion of tape off and i can push it down and make it flush i just don't know how to secure it to make it all stay there...

once both those sides fit flush the spoiler will be perfect i just dont know how to go about securing it properly

06, I have screws in mine but I got it to sit perfectly with just tape before pulling everything back off and drilling the holes.

Looks like your in a warm climate, but it may not be enough to make things go smoothly. If you can grab a hair dryer or heat gun and warm up both the center tail section tape line and the decklid itself along that back edge, things may set in alot better. Your right in thinking that if you pushed it down and got it to stick it will stay. You need to do just that.

In one of the pics I can see the tape is stressed, stretching and pulling away. The heat trick should help tremendously.

One other trick, get the front of the spoiler to sit right and even with the fronts of the end caps, pull the backing strip and set that in first. then apply light pressure to the top edge of the spoiler pushing downward and remove the back strip there to set it in. You should have some verticle strips and end strips, pull those last and press down. Bring that heat gun or hair dryer back out and from about a foot away keep applying heat around the edges. Leave the car in a warm place, preferably in sunlight if possible. This helps cure the tape.. double check every so often that nothing is pulling away.

Getting a ducktail just right isn't a gravey job, the 3 piece line up is the main reason, but the size of the center section makes it tough because your working on to seperate surfaces, top and back..

Hope this helps...

sweet bro thanks i appreciate it ill give that a try for sure...won't be able to do this for another couple days though should i worry about the tape pulling away those couple days...i mean i tugged the spoiler and the car moves before the spoiler so i know its secure...im just making sure...didn't think it was goin to be this much of a pain in the ass hahaha

I hope you can get it to stick. I had the same issue with the 3D carbon 3-piece spoiler i had. I'll try Emay's suggestion and if that don't work I'll just get a new spoiler, possible the cervinis ducktail or the legend spoiler from temple peformance.

Mine was ordered from cervini's it came with a template on where to drill the holes, but I also rechecked by putting some multi-purpuse grease where the screw holes are on the bottom side of the spoiler then fitted it on the car. it left grease where the holes needed to be on the body.
drilled holes from the topside CAREFULLY start with the smallest bit you have and work from there.

That's good news, we wanna see her azz too. post it up you tease.

Funny how that 3m adhesive is more useful with just some temperature differences huh?

I pulled my rear valence last week while it was freezing here, like 5 degrees above zero, and I thought it would be a bit easier to remove. Nope, that mother held so good I was flippin out that I might break the part or pull the paint.

So that said, once it's on and cured, just forget about it. No chance it's comin off..
