That's not accurate, actually. The car you saw for what you 'thought' was the movie was a fan-made poster. It's not real.

The movie on Feb 17 IS the movie for Knight Rider, but is also being used as a "back door pilot" for the series. Basically if the ratings for the movie rock, then we get the new series. If the movie tanks, no more series.

This should give us all the push to watch it. If we get a series then that might drive the movie industry to make some great mods on the car that we could then get manufactured and put on our cars.

Plus give mustangs some more exposure.

Yep. Personally, assuming the movie is as good as I hope, I already have a plan in place to get me a nearly exact replica of the "cruiser" version of KITT, sans the double wing and such.

The movie is a TV movie that will serve as the 'pilot episode' for the TV show. Assuming the movie's ratings are good, then we'll get the series. If the movie tanks, no series.
