SCT X3 Tuner Help

Well . . . just got the FRPP 4.10's put in today. Got an SCT-X3 to go along. Shop said they could use it to adjust speedometer . . . and I would need it for any more mod's. So I've got the thing.

Came in a plastic package with a cardboard logo/insert . . . and no kind of instructions whatsoever. Anybody know where I can find some advice (or a manual) of how I actually use this thing. I know I'm supposed to be able to adjust all kinds of stuff but other than that . . . I've got no info. Looked around on the SCT site a bit. They have a forum . . . but didn't see any kind of link to a manual or anything. Thought it would come with a little more info than this.

Any help?

Unfortunately SCT cut some corners on the SCT X3 and puts a little piece of paper saying to go to their site for instructions.

Yep! That's all you get with the tuner is a website..Here's what you need to do...Go to that website..click on forums for the X3..click on X3 user insructions, and a PDF adobe file will open, and you'll be able to print out the instruction...By the way good luck with your X3,myself and alot of other people been having problems with it...I'm sure your going to get to know their Tech Support,so have their number handy.Luckily I don't live far from their office,I had to go in and get it totally re-programed...Sorry to give you that bad news..Good Luck,,,,

Well . . . as some of you know from a couple of threads that I have posted . . . the SCT-X3 has some issues straight out of the box. This should probably be in a review thread . . . but I felt the need to at least let you guys know how things turned out . . .

The SCT website is some help . . . but it does not give you all of the info that you need. For example, you need to use the windows drivers for the Livewire device in order for the X3Livewire Update software to work. That little bit of left out information caused me a lot of stomping and cursing for a few nights . . .
. . . Anyway . . . after spending about a week trying to fix the thing myself . . . I finally took some time at work and called their support line (they did not respond at all to any emails that I sent to their support . . . so call them if you're having problems)

The SCT support staff was EXTREMELY nice and helpful. They even remote linked to my computer and fixed the device themselves. The hardest part was trying to get in touch with them . . . you will be on hold for about 20-30 minutes waiting. But once you talk to them . . . they take care of you. I reinstalled the new software . . . it now seems to be working flawlessly. I have flashed back and forth with a couple of different octane tunes . . . and the gear change parameter has fixed my speedometer issue. I was also having some pre-ignition issues before at random . . . I tune parameters allows you to adjust the timing at various rmp levels so I've been able to take care of that as well.

So, it seems to be a good device . . . but plan doing a little legwork yourself before it works like it should. As for me . . . it's all good as long as it works. I give it an (A-) due to the initial aggravation. But like I said . . . works great now.

Just food for thought for those of you looking at Flash devices.

This is why i sell way more Xcal2s than 3s. The 2s always work.
