1000+ Street Stang

Lately we have gotten crazy with the hp. Im reading this shinoda post, and the KRs are out and so forth. I just wanted to ask has anyone actually driven a S197 street car with 1000+hp on the street. Im not talking about a car setup for the strip with slicks. I am talking street car.

If so did the thing get any traction at all? Im wondering how much fun is it really? I have a freind with an 05 gt was putting a little over 600 to the wheels. he had 4.10s, he just put the 3.55s back on and took some power out of it. I think he is back to about 510 at the wheels. he said he was tired of having to feather the throttle through first and second gear. and since he doesnt drag race he said it was no point.

I just cant imagine a mustang with 800 to 1000+ hp. You cant get on it in low gears without spinning everywhere and you cant top it out without the risk of jail time on the highway.

Anybody been in one of these beast.

1000 hp can be streetable, takes plenty of money to make things that way, but it's been done. Generally the guys making that kind of power only roll race - especially without a slick.

much over 550 with no dr or slick is pointless, you will never get the full launch potential of that car without going to a serious tire. At which point, you'll be replacing them very often since the wear is fast.

I get tired of my car sliding all over the place. Especially after doing a track day on radials. Once I pull them off, you almost become frustrated.

I'm not a roll racer, I do em, but it's not a true test of man and machine unless it's from a dig. If I were to own a 1000hp car, it would be a track car only so I could get the full adrenaline rush that the thing would provide.

That's my feeling atleast.

I agree 1000hp is worthless. It wouldnt even be fun to drive around. Im driving a procharged gt on stock tires and suspension, talk about lack of traction. I have yet to actually see what my car can do from a dig. But I think I finally decided on some wheels and should have her sitting good by the end of the month... Really for a regular street car, I would say about 500-550 would be the highest I would go. Trust me you can have plenty of fun the that amount of HP...

+1 ^ I agree that 500-550hp is really all you need on the street. Any more and it just becomes a show item, bragging rights. Someone may have 750 or 800 hp, but there is no way they are gonna get any traction the the street...now if you visit the strip a bunch...by all means, more power is always better.

you COULD drive 1000RWHP on the street, but 1, its not going to be fun, and 2, its not going to run on pump gas.

there are a few 03/04 cobra's though that make above 1000RWHP on race gas race tune, and then turn the boost down and run a 600-750RWHP pump gas street tune.

ive never driven a car on the street making more than 650RWHP, and thats what my old 03 made on pump gas. and honestly i would want to drive anymore and expect it to hook.

i did drive that car in that form every day 40 miles each way, some stop and go, some highway, rain or shine, and never had a problem what so ever with driveability. but if you got into it anything below 80MPH, it just spun. and even the 3rd to 4th shift which is 100-105MPH it could still spin them for a good 20' or better which can be scary at that speed. that was on 315/35/17 goodyear GS-D3's BTW.

so can 1000RWHP be driven on the street, certainly. can it be daily driven, certainly. is it going to cost alot of $$ to run it on race gas all the time, certainly, is it going to be fun to drive on the street every day, certainly not.

there are a few HP stages here for street cars
<200 RWHP slow
200-300 getting a little fast
300-400 pretty quick
400-500 fast
500-600 damn fast
600-700 crazy fast
700-800 holy shit thats fast
800+ you have balls the size of watermelons.

i think that pretty mcuh sums it up.

My car is almost to the point of being put back together. We're hoping for 800 rwhp which is close to 1000 crank but that's on the race tune with $10 a gallon C16, 118 octane and maybe 25-28 lbs of boost. For street use, we're going to keep the tune at the minimum of 11 lbs which will provide maybe 550 rear wheel. It will have limited street use because of the tubular interior and transmission. It's not a car for street racing. I suppose you could run around town on the race tune and a tank full of C16...but that's just silly.

having a 1,000hp street car is like having a 3 foot long penis. of course it would be cool to have a 3 foot wang, but what the hell are you going to fuck? a hollowed out sequoia?

dont you think yoru fuel system might be inadequate for that power? i mean the injectors will be fine, but we just ran out of fuel on a shop car of ours, its a 07GT with a built 5.0L bottom end ported heads, 2.3L whipple. and we ran out of fuel. we have the GT500 pump upgrade, and the KB BAP.

My buddy has a 750 RWHP SC'd viper that will break the 335/35/18s loose at 75 in 3rd. High power is cool, but only really useful when you get into triple digit speeds. I dont think ill be happy with less than 600, but its going to be a while before i have the 10K+ needed to reach that. (new motor, new blower, etc)

I'm only making a little over 700 at the wheels on 93 but with the Nittos and warm weather, I can hook pretty well in 2nd. It's easy to drive it you keep your foot out of it!
