this is ridiculous that they tightened these lugs up this tight. i had a hard time even with and airgun and on the last lock using a wrench not an air gun the key striped?

well you need a new key now. lol

what I (<-- I am a bit crazy) would do is get a slightly smaller ratchet and pound the hell out of it until it cuts into the softer metal of the lug nut. then take off the nut with a cheater bar and go buy a new locking nut and key

NO i had to do exactly that with one of the regular lug nuts.

But i cant do that with the locking lug nut. has nothing on the outside its round, its on the inside that has grooves. the lock nut itself is fine on the inside its the key that striped. can i get this from ford does anyone know cuase i see on the bag that it comes in a form you got to send someone in NY with $15. Tell me i dont have to have this freaking thing mailed to me.

I would cut that nut off and go buy a new locking key most it should cost for 4 locking nuts (1 per wheel) and 2 keys is $20.00

You have two options that I know of. 1- they sell a sock that is threaded, you put it on your inpact and it will screw down on the lug till it gets a good grip and rips it loose, then you will hav to replace the lug with a new one. 2- go to Ford ( assuming its an OEM locking lug ) and buy a key off them...

well it came with the car. but my point is that in the little bag that they stick the key in and put in your glove box there is a card in there that says if you need a new key contact such and such. this sucks man. ill call the dealer in the morning i hope they have one of these things.

Discount tire can pull it off, Trust me, I used to work there, and was the one that did any custom wheel/tires for them, as well as the lock removal, which happened all the time.

How round is it? In most cases, a tight socket hammered onto the lug nut will offer sufficient purchase to take the nut off. I know after spending 3 hours cutting a locker off lengthways and then someione showed me how to do it in 3 minutes.

I work in the parts dept of a Ford dealer here in South Florida, our service dept has a master wheel lock key kit which any Ford dealer should have,
just go to your local dealer and have them remove the locks and replace them with regular lug nuts, unless your afraid someone might steal your wheels, then just buy a new kit which comes with 4 new lock nuts and a new socket, Ford part number F2LY 1A043-A retail $43.37.

I used that gator grip socket when it happened to me,the nut was real tight and it bent the pins but I got it off. Then I returned it to O'riley.

solution

I have done this before and it works.
Find a socket (that you are willing to sacrifice) that is a little smaller than the outside of the wheel lock lug nut.
Place over the lock and hammer it on over the lock.
Insert breaker bar and remove locking lug not.
Place lock in vice and with hammer & screewdriver remove socket from lock.
