Saleen H302 Extreme is UNDERrated

At a Ford dealership, the new Saleen Extreme was put on the dyno to see if this thing really will put down the numbers Saleen is claiming (620bhp). The Extreme put down 590rwhp!!! With that said, it should be around 650-670bhp from the factory. Wow, that is pretty rediculous and why we call it the EXTREME

thats cool to know, but its still a really expensive car. Thats a badass car though.

The Saleens are awesome! And unlike a normal mustang they hold there value alot better. I would probally choose the extreme over a gt500.

You get rediculous looks, rediculous exclusivity, rediculous attention, a great suspension and all this power:
1) a stroked 302 ci engine
2) forged internals
3) ported heads
4) honed Saleen s/c
5) roughly 650BHP with 600+ ft/lbs

All that is for $85K...find me another car that comes with that much power from the factory, under warranty with the exclusivity of a Saleen.

85grand is just crazy. You can get a gt500 for about 45grand add about 10grand on performance/suspension and it will kick the hell out of that saleen. Add slight cosmetic things and it will get more looks too. The saleen can't compare to the sheer performance that the gt500 can offer for the money. 85grand is insane, might as well get a c6 z06 and add 5grand and it will kill that saleen. Just not worth the money.

The "I can buy this car for this much and do this to it for this much" argument makes you sound like a ricer. You could buy a civic and make it faster than the Extreme with about 25K...its all relative

It won't be faster (or as fast) than his in a few weeks. I think he's building it up to go in the 850+ crank hp range.

Acknowledging that any Saleen is a gorgeous automobile...

As an ex viper owner, I'd sooner buy an 06 Viper coupe with less than 2000 miles for mid to low $60s and have the extra 20K to play with. Not enough to twin turbo the thing but could put a nice supercharger. Wouldn't take much boost at all to get into 800-900 crank range.

+1^ wether you fix it up or get another company to do it for you....still a mustang. I'd rather have a new Z06 for that kind of money, hell you could buy a new Viper for that money. So umm...Viper or a mustang made nicer by Saleen? Seriously now, 85k for that car is a joke.

i dont think its a joke...302 engine,forged rotating assembly, 670 hp, racecraft suspension, Bigger brakes, and 6speed tranny. its a 1/4 or a race track monster, thats pretty much ferrari and lambo super car status there. 85k isnt bad, if you think about it that way.

Alright, maybe not a joke, but for that kind of money you could get something like a Viper or Z06 and have alittle left over.

i guess but with the saleen all you would have to do is a simple pulley swap for more HP, plus it brand new. i think the new z06 (ZR1) is around 85k too and im guessing that is what the saleen is competing with.

I just found out the price for the new Extreme is $79K not $85K. Why is that so rediculous? It can perform right along with the Z06, if not outperform it and I know it outperforms the Viper. Te Z06 is the same price while the viper is more expensive...so why is that rediculous?

I think leebunnyz is the only one really putting this car into context...it is SUPERCAR status for basically $80K! It can rip up the 1/4 mile and the road course at the same time! Some of you are rationalizing spending $80K on just a mustang...believe me, this is not just some Mustang...
