Tach Adaptor Needed or Not?

Ok...I have an 06 GT and I have the Autometer DPSS Stage 2. According to Autometer, I need the tach adaptor #9117. However according to the instructions I can set the pulse indicator from .5 up to 6.

So this begs the question, can I just wire the tach signal wire to one of the coils and set the tach to a .5 pulse? Rather than using the adaptor.

If so, is it as accurate as using the tach adapter at the 4 pulse setting?

Seems like I have seen it done both ways but before I spend the $50 on the adaptor, I would like to know from those that have done it.

Thanks in advance for your input....

The COP system might not provide the right type of signal to the autometer tach, as its not a traditional rpm signal like you could get from the 94-98 cars.

Thanks...I bought it last night as I came to the same conclusion...

Ebay $50 new, should have it by Fri.

I just think for what the DPSS costs it would include the darn thing...
