I'm with redfire on the looks, Take off the GT spoiler add a billet grill, hood scoop, CS front fascia, and the CS Bullitt wheels and they are the same, its still a GT with a few visual differences

True, but IMO they aren't worth $36k.

I believe they are, if you factor in what the car will be worth down the road, provided you keep it in good shape, due to the name on the car.

For the money you save buying/modding a regular GT...you could easily buy exterior parts and...clone it if the only reason he is buying it for the looks.

If he don't like the Bullitt then get a stock GT and fix it up however he likes. Probably come out cheaper then a Shelby GT.

I don't see why anyone would get a Shelby GT
When I was about to trade in my GT for a GT500 they kept bullshitting and I told them no thanks. They kept calling me in, and I just tired of it all, and decided to just use the money on my GT. Thing is, reason for going from GT to GT500 was the engine. Why would you go for a Shelby GT when it is just a regular mustang with some modifications for a ridiculous price? I don't see how the Shelby name can be worth such a high markup. And to the poster that said he doesn't want to pay 60K for the Gt500. They aren't nearly that price. When I went in to the dealership, I told them straight off the bat I wasn't gonna pay 75K for it. After a short while, the price was down to 50K. Then I walked off cause I wanted to give time to think about it. They called me back in and told me that they had reduced the price even more for me. Just get a GT, and billet grill + any of the other things it has for a low price. You said your uncle dislikes things that look like something they're not. But that's exactly what the Shelby GT is. It's a regular GT that has had a different grill tacked on with gold stripes, and the other minor mods, mostly everything same as a regular GT, but has the Shelby name tacked on with none of the power it should have for bearing that name. |

I agree with him too, but i have already bought my car. Bullitts aren't avaliable here anymore. They are already sold out. There is nothing perfomance wise that the bullitt has that the shelby gt doesn't have (besides rev being moved up), but the shelby still looks way better and has the name. I wouldn't do it, but for someone who said thay would never get an s197 before they saw this one its a major step.

Do your research the Bullit is cheaper but it isn't a Shelby GT. The Shelby GT really is a pretty good package. The bullit is a straight line car and in a word bland to say the least. The Shelby GT is a drivers car and much more about handling then straight line performance. Worth the money? Probably not, you are most definitely paying a premium for the name but for some that heritage is worth something. The Shelby may someday have a future if history is any indication. Granted that will be a long way down the road.
I love my car but I would still like to build one from a GT lol maybe I need two. |
