I guess in CA the Mustang can have the Fogs on with the High beams. V.C. Section 24405 - Maximum Number of Lamps

Maximum Number of Lamps

24405. (a) Not more than four lamps of the following types showing to the front of a vehicle may be lighted at any one time:
(1) Headlamps.
(2) Auxiliary driving or passing lamps.
(3) Fog lamps.
(4) Warning lamps.
(5) Spot lamps.
(6) Gaseous discharge lamps specified in Section 25258.
(b) For the purpose of this section each pair of a dual headlamp system shall be considered as one lamp.
(c) Subdivision (a) does not apply to any authorized emergency vehicle.

Amended Ch. 234, Stats. 1976. Effective January 1, 1977.

No need to buy a kit if this is what you want to do. It can be accomplished with a pair of DPST Bosch-type relays. If anyone is interested then PM me and I can send you a diagram.

I did this to my Grand Prix some time back. They had seperate sealed beams, low and high. What you end up doing is using the relay to isolate the 12v+ inputs. After I wired mine in I could have up to six front facing lights. Illegal? Yup. Bright as hell? Yup.

The funny thing is though that when you are using your high beams no one is in front of you so why does it matter if you used 10... If you approach someone just turn to your low beams... I used to ride around the back roads in my truck with with the 6 KC HiLights on top burning and the high beams going.. The lows and highs burned at the same time and I had the factory fogs wired to work with the highs. So in effect I had 12 lamps going at once... I never got in trouble cause when someone would be approaching I turned it all down to just the lows and fogs... I just thought that might be a fun story... haha... you have to see a picture of this truck at night...lol...

That's an awesome setup you had. But you were considerate enough to turn the highs off with oncoming traffic. With the amount of truly selfish/inconsiderate/rude people in my area, a setup like that would certainly increase accidents at night by a statistically significant amount.

Sweet setup... prolly won't help much in seeing the lane markings in traffic under drifting snow. Still... gotta be prettty darn good for off-roading.
