Fog/Running Light Bulbs
I installed a pair of yellow 55 watt bulbs awhile back and I just noticed that both bulb guides (the black dohickies surrounding the bulb) have melted and are now resting on the bulbs themselves. I believe the stock bulbs are 42 watts. Anybody else have problems with stronger bulbs?
Jus thought I'd pass this along.

I used to work at a car audio shop (8 years...) and we sold the Street Glow, Hyper White, ect., bulbs. The ones with the blue tint to them and so forth. Of course we all tried them ourselves, and one thing we noticed was some of the sockets melting. Upon analysis we figured out that there was some play in the connection, some slop, that the factory terminals weren't as tight on the aftermarket bulbs. The male terminal size on the aftermarket bulbs was slightly smaller than stock. Now what happens in this situation is resistance in the connection, and resistance generates heat. If ya'll want to go with aftermarket bulbs you might take a tiny flat blade screwdriver and tweak the pins on your plug, tighten them up some.
If you do happen to melt one you might try an autobody shop, they can get replacement plugs on pigtails. I know, had to do this to my F150.
