2008 dodge challenger
according to edmunds.com it don't appear that the new challengers are much of a threat for our cars.
they claim mid 13's for the 1/4. 6.1 liter hemi @ 425 HP 4200lbs.

It's not the stock product that is the threat, it's the pluthera of power that can be had easily via modifications.
Also, if the plan pushes through for the SRT versions, you can bet we are in the dog house in the s-197 stock bottom end world. The car is eye catching, they did right this time unlike the years past. I have about 10 photos from the chicago auto show I can post up later tonite.. I have to admit, I'd like to own one.. |

Not according to show documentation.. (not that things can't be misprinted, but SRT documentation reads 510hp with the 6.4 hemi.. Rather than the standard 6.1)

According to their website you can build your own. Price starts at $40,000 and the only vehicle offered is the SRT 8 which has a 6.1 engine with 425 hp. I really like the way they look too. They did alot better job with this then the GTO which looks like a cavalier.

They look really good, but they are absolute pigs. 4200lbs for a 2door coupe is unacceptable. An S197 with 425chp would smoke a Challenger.

Yea, I heard that the only thing available the first year woud be the SRT8 version. Which would have the 425 hp 6.1

The GTO was made by GM, the Challenger is Mopar.

I think they look awesome, wouldn't mind owning one. We'll just have to wait and see how badass the srt8 will be, will still probably really expensive though.

Like I said before, they look good but I just couldn't deal with 4200lbs. Being that heavy with IRS, it would take alot to beat a blown GT.

Just a few bolt-ons will beat the challengers.

I think it would be a good race stock for stock. The GTs can run a 13.5 with a good driver stock.

Let the big money schmucks get them early, deal with all the bugs, weather the first year hit, and then buy an 2009 or 2010 in mid 09.. |
