CAI for V8 2005

Hi all,

i am new in this forum.

I would like to boost a little bit my Mustang GT 2005. Which cold air intake do you advice ? On which website can i sell it ?

Do you know a good chip to get 20-30HP more ?

Last think, what do you think about TURBINATOR ? Bullshit ?
Thanks a lot

thank you for your advices...
JLT+tune seem good. I checked on ebay but i can see that sentence : "
Automatic Mustang GT's and V6's will receive the most Advanced Transmission Tuning on the planet, so you can get the most out of your Mustang for either the Street or Track!
"

My Mustang is a manuel 5 speed gear, is that a problem ?

JLT II and XCAL II and the best tuning shop in your area.
Take it to them to install and dyno tune your car with them on.
The tune will make all the difference in the world, with or without the CAI.

the manual will not be a problem when it comes to the SCT XCAL2, not sure of which ebay auction you were looking at, so post a link then we can see. the cool thing about the JLT CAI's is that Jay will paint the intake tubes whatever color you want to match.

the 05+ GT 3v's are much more tune dependent compared to previous mustangs.

Judging from the research iv'e been doing, the only time you need the tune,is when the inlet piping size changes, that changes the air speed thru the filter and into the throttle body, kits with high flow filters and stock inlet piping don't need tunes. But obviously there will be less gain. The other thing, these cars are tuned from the factory for 87 octane, the handheld tuners put a much more aggressive timing curve air/fuel etc and require 93 octane minimum.
So if you get a intake kit with a larger inlet pipe/tube,and combine the 93 octane tune, you'll get a pretty good horsepower increase.
Check out the intake from WMS...

The JLT CAI is the most powerful along with the Western M. version as with both get the Tune for your car and You will Be very impressed!

The only thing that sucks for me is I live in CA. and the highest octane We have out here is 91,,, CA Sucks about this...

I love my JLT!! with SCT custom tune,,

Good luck!!

5.0 Magazine ran a test of eleven different Cold Air Intake kits in the January 2006 edition. C&L won the test with their street unit. The confusing thing about it was that the JLT produced slightly more HP (I think 2 HP). The reason that JLT lost to C&L was that 5.0 took into considerations more items than just HP. JLT basically lost the contest even though they produced slightly more HP because they were considered of a cheaper build quality than C&L. This has been proven true in the various forums with some JLT guys complaining about their filters either coming loose or falling off (this was a production problem that JLT supposedly fixed) and also the intake can rub on the ABS line...JLTs fix for this was to bend the ABS line out of the way...YIKES!!!. I went back and forth between JLT and C&L but ended up going with C&L because of the 5.0 test. You definitely want a CAI with a tuner so you can dial in more timing for a high octane tune. You may be able to find the article on 5.0s website, not sure.

I have never heard of anyone having an issue with a JLT intake...

But IMHO the C&L and JLT are about the in my book on the 05+ platform...

Yeah +1 on that Chris, they will produce about the same HP. Just wanted to let the guys know that there has been issues with the JLT. C&L came in first and JLT second so they're the top of the heap.
