Shorty Header ? If I opt to go with the shorty style header for my 2007 GT, (either JBA or ?) do these bolt right up to the stock exhaust? And do you need to remove the starter and motor mount to install the shorty headers, or is that onny applicable for the long tube style type headers? Thanks..........

The instructions I got from JEGS say to remove starter and NOTE: Removing motor mounts will be easier as one of the bolts on the manifold is a b&*ch to get to. They recomend lifting engine via jack to help with install. otherwise if you have a swiveling ratchet you should be fine....

for the JBA shorty's you have to remove the starter and the motor mounts to get them in place. Also in the instructions it says to remove the steering linkage but you can work around it.
The stock H-Pipe will bolt right on.And I'll suggest ratchet wrenches make some of the bolts a lot easier to tighten.

I was under the impression that shortys weren't even worth the effort because they don't give alot of power is this true?

There is a thread on here under longtube headers install where they installed a set of bbk shorties. The starter was unbolted but not removed, the motor mount ears were removed and the steering shaft. Some say it is time consuming the first time around but very doable.

They don't give alot of horsepower more torque.Overall long tubes are better.I did a set of shorty JBA on my 2000 gt,after a while the exhaust note improved got a dyno tune done cause i had just about fully bolted all there was to do.Talk about torque and the car sounded wicked.

I can speak on behalf of the BBK tuned shorties that they do add performance. The consensus is that long tubes are better but to say that shorties are worthless is not entirely accurate. I bought mine for a 4th of what long tubes would cost and had Doug from bamachips dial up a tune for me and trust me you will be very pleased if you go with shorties.
On the other hand you may get maybe another 5-10 horse with LT's over the shorties but for the money and the pain in your rectum on the install price, you might be better off sticking with the shorties, but if KY is readily available to you and you dont mind dishing out 3000+-(parts/labor) for an exhaust mod then to each his own. |

My car started at 240 RWHP and 260 RWTQ ! Look at my signature. You do get more HP with Longtubes this is true! But you got to conceder what the LT headers will do for all the other mods!
I think if you open the intake and the exhaust , it will let your other mods do the job that they claim that they can do

![]() For the nicest headers on the market that would still be $1600 in labor. At most it would be $500.

So the kooks LTs with catted x is around 1300 (brenspeed). I was originally going to go with this set up and just about every damn shop where I live was like you are looking at 1100 - 1500 for install... . I wish I lived where you live. But the argument never was are shorties better than LT's...I believe the issue is are they worth it...All Im saying is that I have shorties and I can tell you they make a noticeable (exhuast note/torque) difference over stock...jesus!
