Putting on a Whipple Super Charger
I ordered a Whipple Twin Screw Super Charger w/ intercooler for my manual tran 06 GT. I am also in the process of having a shop put on a Detroit True Track on. The same shop is gonna but the supercharger on.
Is there anything that I need to watch out for? I don't want to blow anything up... I have an 00 V6 that I did a little modding: CAI kit, cat back dual exhaust, underdrive pulley, diablo programmer. So I have some experience, but this is my first supercharger. Am I gonna have to replace anything on the stang thats currently stock but won't be able to handle the new HP? I know that my clutch probably won't last as long... Thanks |

all youll need to do is have an experienced tuner put it on the dyno, and write a custom tune for it. a lot people will run the tune that comes with the s/c but i think of that as just a crutch to get you to a real tuner. youll be allright just throwing on the whpple. but there are other things you can do to complement the blower, such as headers and exhaust, and other bolt on. congrats on the blower, you cant go wrong with whipple!!! welcome to mm also

with the s/c on the stock stang you should be fine with a conservative dynotune, don't really want to go over 8-9 psi on the stock rotating assembly, but the other mods like full exhaust, electric waterpump, and gears will compliment that setup greatly.

G Womper, can't wait for your post on the final install. I also have an 06GT, 5 SPD and have been researching Super Chargers. I can't make up my mind between the KB and the Whipple. Mot many guys have the Whipple so you will be a wealth of info. I'm also going to change the 3.55 out for a 3.73.

Just go conseravtive on the tune and you will be fine...I am sure your tuner will know that already...

I have the whipple on my 05.
As long as your car is bone stock, the TUNE provided by whipple/ford racing is dead on the money and you will have no problems with that tune! good luck with the install, if you have any problems along the way, feel free to shoot me a PM and I will be more than happy to guide you along the way for the install. I am currently putting down 470RWHP and 450tq with the intercooled kit. 8-10PSI is safe on your 06 Motor, don't worry!

Ford has to prove that the bolt on supercharger is the cause of the repair/fix in order to void a warranty repair. so if your radio stops working, they cant blame it on the supercharger. if a valve cover gasket goes, they have to prove that the blower did it. |
