What Is The Best Wax To Use?

I haven't waxed a car since about 1973 and now that I have something I feel is worth the effort what's the best wax or polish to be using? I'm in Florida and the lovebugs can get awful heavy at times. Thanks....Norm

I third the Zaino...

But Zaino is not a wax...It is a paint polish and it rocks!

Hey GTNorm, Consumer Reports just did a report in the last couple of months on car waxes and the No. 1 Wax (not polish) was Black Magic.
I tried it and didn't like it since it uses "optical brighteners" that must have been some kind of oil since it basically smeared all over the place. Second place was Turtle Wax Carnuba liquid (not regular TW liquid). I've bought the TW and it sets up fast comes off real easy with no residue. When I want to touch up the wax, I use Mequier's spray wax. It is also a cleaner so it takes off any little dirt specs and then adds wax. You have to be careful about some polishes since they are basically for show cars. When you use a polish you aren't adding any protection and sometimes are actually stripping the wax off. Some of the polishes contain Naptha which is a very strong cleaner...it's used to remove wax when you need to apply a decal and the furniture industry uses it to remove laquer from mirrors.

Zaino is a perfect for a show car or street car...I have swore by it for over 8 years...

I just was not able to get ahold of any for about the past 2 years or so...

If you try I can guarantee you will like it...

Zaino bros for me too.I live in hawaii were it's humid all the time.Iv'e tried everything and nothing is like zaino.NXT is sorta similar. There both polymers not waxes.
#39 carnuba turns yellow in about a week as it evaporates off the car in humid climates. Then the car needs to be stripped again,no way will i go thru all that, plus it doesn't look nearly as good as zaino
The more coats, the deeper the paint looks. It also repels dust, makes it easy as heck to clean.A 40 dollar kit lasted me a whole year on my black c5,and i was using the hell out of it.
You can't buy zaino in stores,so suprisingly not alot of people know about zaino, even though they've been around along time. The consumer report polls are alittle misleading. There polling folks that just want an easy wax product for there work car.
If consumer reports polled 10,000 hot rodders(not soccer moms),zaino would be the winner no doubt.

I think I'll give Zaino a try, but Consumer reports is not a poll. They actually test the stuff in labs. I wish that they would run a test on polishes. In fact, I might send them an email to see if they will. If your Carnuba is turning yellow, it's because it's picking up a lot of dirt...Hawaii is windy, right?

Zaino user for two years now and I cannot say enough about it. The only thing you may want to add into your process is a really good paint cleaner. Zaino makes the ZPC stuff now but after 40K miles it was not aggressive enough. I ended up using some Optimum Compound followed byt eh Optimum Polish using PC to apply it all. Then several coats of Z5 followed by 3 coats of Z2 Pro. The first time is a real chore, but afterwards it is just simple upkeep.
