decisions
so i've been thinking. i could either forge my bottom end which i would have to pay someone to do. that or i could do the 6 speed which would be about 4 grand and i could do the work myself and would be prepared for the bottom end later. i can do the kenne bell myself also. so all the installation i can do myself and wouldn't be paying someone else to install anything.

i was thinking forged also, but what happens when my tranny goes and i don't have a car for months because i don't have the 4 grand to replace it. i wouldn't blow the engine with the standard kb kit pushing 450 to the wheels, but when i did save the money to do the engine the rest of the drive train would already be there waiting for the power.

I think if the tranny will hold with the supercharger, then why wouldnt it hold up to the forged internals

when you up the boost and start pushing it at the track to around 700 or so at the wheels with some stickies. i would think the stocker would start to be questionable. if i'm wrong i'd like to know.

Tremec officially rates the stocker (tr3650) at 360 lbs ft torque. Of course it does unofficially handle more, quite a few successful people there, but I think you're planning correctly if the potential for a surprise upgrade is too much long term risk versus the short term forged internal reward.

I totally agree on the N/A route, but it doesn't put out 700+ rwhp ( I don't track and that kind of power would be an absolute waste on me).
And I think Psycho Bob is talking about forged internals WITH the S/C in order to up the boost, not in place of the S/C at stock internal boost levels....

why yes, the only reason i am wanting the internals is so i can up the boost when i put the kb on. i can do the kb and the trans for around 11 grand, or i could do the kb and the internals for a couple grand more as i would be paying someone to install it all.

Yeah, take a long rod modular to 7500 on a daily basis and let us know how that turns out...... If you want the cubes and the revs, use a 3.7" bore and just keep the stock stroke.

I would do the blower and trans first. That way you still have tons of power and the trans can handle the built motor later on. And you will save a ton of money installing yourself.

I would do internals before tranny because you could always run a 150 shot to hold you over till the blower.

Didnt say he was right, i still dig him . besides i think you lose the "soul" aspect of n/a once you talk about spraying. spray is just the poors mans s/c anyway.

5.0 Mustang & Super Ford April 2008. Page 50. "Tripping the Light: Camtastic" car built by Big 3 Performance. Made 631 whp huffing 18#'s... on 93 pump gas. Eagle Forged Crank/Rods. 8.7:1 made with stock heads and Arias pistons. "...Big 3's sales manager, Anthony Stephenson, tells us that this beserk off-idle response, as well as the fact the the 5.0-liter missle will zing happily and repeatedly to 7500rpm..." Car is fully DD friendly. these engines are underrated... i certainly hope ford can make a small block capable of beating chevy's small block... and i know from expirience, sbc's especially LSx variants can REV.
