No tune needed. Dont forget to remove your postive battery cable before instalation.

I dont see how they can do that...Is the intake so close to stock that it deos not need one?

The tune is needed when the inlet pipe inside diameter is changed, this changes the air speed thru the intake. So i would guess the K&N inlet/plastic tubing is the same size inside diameter as stock, just with a high flow filter.
My theory is is if your going to do the intake,go all the way like the WMS one we talked about in that other thread... Look how big and short inlet piping is on the WMS intake, less bends the better, especially if you add more mods later.Of coarse the price goes way up because it has to come with a hand held tuner...(SCT)...

I really like that intake set-up...Reminds me of an f-body intake set-up...Is there a Mach3 kind of hood for the new stangs? Seems like you could almost make the mach 3 hoos functional like it is on the foxes with the stormin norman set-up...

So if the K&N is the same size then why not just buy a filter and stick with the stocker?

The one i put on my c5 ls1,the intake was similar, but kept going over the radiator and was about 3 inches off the ground.."bottom feeders"...was made by halltech...The car itself was 2 inches off the ground...ultra slam...

I read an atricle where the tested several diff CAI and the K&N actually cooled the air more than other CAI with tunes. They had the coolant res relocated and a slightly modified radiator cover that allowed cooler air from the grill into the intake. Of coruse the tunes added a tenth or 2 of a second but the cooler the air...well you guys know more than this newbie!!

The K&N doesn't draw from the grill,it draws from the fender just like the stock one.The WMS one i posted above, has a modified radiator cover and a resistor that tells the PCM the air is 77*.
Heres the same intake i posted above,on the car...they blew away the 3 others tested at the track, not a dyno...heres the results from the tests.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Was just reading an article in Mustangs and fast fords...
The tested AEM...vs...Steeda.....vs....WMS...
And this is a good test because it's not on a dyno (dyno's don't win races, sometimes to get a 2 hp increase at a certain rpm, there giving up mid range torque...not good))..
The car was stock with 20 inch wheels.Outside Air temp, oil temp etc were stickly monitored, and even the air/fuel ratios were monitored to make as identical as possible.3 passes on each intake.
DA - 1434 feet above sea-level-
Stock..........................13.85 @ 97.28
AEM brute force...........13.83 @ 97.40
Steeda High Volocity...13.76 @ 98.14
WMS.........................13.69 @ 98.68 even though the DA shot up to 2366 feet, and also had the lowest 60 ft times. This intake will most likely respond even better with a few mods and really seperate itself from the others..It also gives the IAT a fixed temp signal of 77* which directly influences power gains.I like it too because it comes straight of the t-body to the front grill, has a modified raditaor cover.Comes with an SCT tuner also

That looks good! Thanks for the correction, I wish I would have read that before I bought my SLT2. But I am happy with the increased throttle response I got with my setup. Check out ssinserts.com they have some nice stainless access for under the hood.
