Wheel Stance Decision....

One week away from ordering the 20" Shelby Razor Wheels.

Now I need your help indeciding what the stang stance should be. (Remeber I'm Supercharged!)

Choices:

Option 1 - Standard - 265/35/20s all the way around
Pro: able to rotate tires for extended tread life

Option 2 - Staggered - 265/30/20s on Front 275/35/20s on rear
Pro: thicker tire on the rear and added traction.
Con: unable to rotate tires

Also post in the thread what brand name tire you recommend for overall performance and handling......

i'm going with the 24mm offset that sits flush with the fender. if you go with the 40mm, you won't be able to exceed 255 on the front

the rim is 9" rim, and shelby recommends that you do not exceed 275/35 on the rears.

eventually I will lower the car, but with a kit that lowers the front just a tiny bit, and the rear so it fills the gap.

Only thing about these rims i wish i could change is I wish they came 10in wide also... So I could get 10 in the rear and 9 in the front...

I just ordered some gray/gunmetal shelby razors, having the two rear wheels sent off to be widened to 10.5. Tire place is really cool and sending them for me, mounting tires on all four for me, and then sending them to my house.

Mav, I vote staggered, when you see a staggered car next to a non, you naturally gravitate to the staggered becuase of the subtle differences.

One thing to keep in mind, I know most people really worry about rotating tires and all that. My experience with my ride is that I really kill rear tires. Burnouts and hard light to light driving really take it's toll on the rears and I personally would rather destroy and replace 2 tires out back multiple times in a summer season, than take all four down to bald and replace all at once. That's just my mind set, not that the cost is any better, not that the thought makes life all that much more convenient. I just know this kinda fits my driving style. I get two years on the fronts, and about 5000 miles on my rears, I wouldn't rotate if I wasn't staggered at that point.

Just my take on the topic is all..

I do just about the same thing... I dont rotate my tires just the ones that are bald... I dont normally have enough cash the put out for all tires at once....

Makes sense, the cost is no different, just spread out so the hit isn't so big..
