So the plan is to rebuild the rear end on the Mustang during the off season. What are you guys running for differentials and gears? I'm looking for gear ratios, models, and brands. I have an 08 GT with a Kenne Bell blower and stock internals. 305/45R18 rear tires. I use this car mainly for fun on the streets and traveling.
5th gear is .71 on the 5r55s Auto .68 on the T3650 Manual.
Tire dia 305/40/18 is 27.61" or 730.56 rotations per mile
With 4.10 gears your RPM and MPH will be:
2500 @ 70.54
3000 @ 84.65
So around 75-80 will be close to 2,700 rpms
Stock tires are 26" dia and those numbers are different
3.31 82mph @ 2500 rpm's
Highway running on the 4.10's are no problem and I run the 26" tire
Awesome, I was really looking for some real world knowledge on 4.10's. I hear everyone likes them, but didn't know how it was driving with them on the highway/long trips.
With your tire size and 4.10 gears, your effective rear end gear ratio is about 3.83. I run a slightly smaller tire now and I'm at about 2500 rpms at 70 mph with my automatic.
I went with FR 3.73s but I run a 295/35/20 which is 28.1" and I have the KB. I want to run 4.10s but this thing just guzzles gas as it is on the highway.
