Ecu ??
Will the computer in my 06 advance its own timming untill it pings ? Or dose it just retard the timming if pinning is found.

timing is set to ford preference at the "maximum" "safe" level..... so it will run on that much timing till it detects knock... so it has a KR system. these ecu's are smart though. 08 models started using a new adaptive spark system which detects what fuel grade is used within seconds of consumption. but if your knock sensors hear knock, its pulling time

So I would have too ad timming my self for higher oct. fuel.What would be the best way Global or high rpm. Plus Im half deaf and my car is loud so if I do hear pinging back it down a few.

global. start with 2* at a time, if you can datalog, add time till it pings then back out 2*
